April 22, 2025

The City of Edmonton and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 1007 have officially reached a new collective agreement.

City Council voted to accept the tentative agreement, which was ratified by IBEW Local 1007 members on April 11, 2025, finalizing the bargaining process. This is the second collective agreement to be finalized in as many weeks by the City and Unions representing City workers.

"Through collaboration and open dialogue, this agreement with IBEW Local 1007 delivers a stable and predictable future for both the City and our valued employees,” said City Manager Eddie Robar. “The agreement recognizes the crucial role our employees play in serving Edmontonians, while also ensuring responsible financial management for Edmonton."

“On behalf of IBEW Local 1007, I want to thank the City of Edmonton’s Bargaining Team, City Manager Eddie Robar, and City Council for their willingness to work collaboratively toward a fair agreement,” said IBEW Local 1007 Business Manager Steve Southwood. “Our members are proud, loyal and dedicated employees who work hard every day to support the services Edmontonians rely on. I am grateful the City recognizes that dedication and we appreciate the commitment shown to a respectful bargaining process.”

The terms of the three-year agreement, which covers December 29, 2024, to December 11, 2027, include the following wage increases:
  • 2025: 4 per cent increase
  • 2026: 3 per cent increase
  • 2027: 3 per cent increase

Additional highlights of the agreement include increased shift differential pay, increased boot subsidy, increased healthcare spending account and increased weekend premium pay. View the memorandum of agreement for full details.

The City is actively working to implement the agreement.

IBEW Local 1007 represents nearly 150 City workers responsible for the installation, construction, maintenance, repair or operation of electrical or communications equipment that supports City services.
