June 16, 2025
On June 29, Edmonton Transit Service (ETS) summer service changes will take effect. Various bus routes will have service changes to reflect typical summer ridership patterns, including the suspension of school service until the fall 2025 term.
As part of the upcoming service changes, Route 508 will be split into two routes (Routes 508 and 527). Route 508 will run from Mill Woods Transit Centre to Meadows Transit Centre, and the new Route 527 will replace the service provided by Route 508 in the Millbourne neighbourhood.
Key Service Updates
Introducing On Demand Transit To Five New Neighbourhoods
Starting June 29, ETS will replace conventional transit with On Demand Transit in the following neighbourhoods: Riverdale, Lendrum, Malmo, Belgravia and Windsor Park.
A review of Routes 111, 131, 725 and 726 determined that these routes do not meet minimum performance standards due to low ridership. Route 111 will no longer run through the Riverdale neighbourhood and will instead run to Stadium Transit Centre through McCauley, Alberta Avenue and Parkdale. Routes 131, 725 and 726 will be cancelled.
Due to Riverdale’s close proximity to the downtown seniors On Demand Transit zone, the neighbourhood will receive On Demand Transit with seniors hours of service (Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. - 7 p. m.; Weekends and holidays, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.) and will connect to the City Centre Mall and Churchill Square transit hubs. Lendrum and Malmo will have regular hours of service and will connect to Southgate Transit Centre. Belgravia and Windsor Park will also have regular hours of service and will connect to the University Transit Centre.
To help residents adapt to the service change, ETS is providing information sheets and free drop-in virtual information sessions. Links to the information sheets, along with the dates and times for virtual sessions, are available at edmonton.ca/TransitAlerts.
Other service changes
Route 109A/B - This route will have two changes. First, it will be rerouted onto Juchli Avenue in the Griesbach neighbourhood, and then it will be rerouted onto 167 Avenue to bring it closer to commercial areas and centres of employment.
- A number of bus stops will see service for this route removed, while others will see service added.
Route 507 - A full traffic signal has been installed at 40 Avenue and 50 Street, which will allow this route to run more directly between the Tamarack neighbourhood and Southgate Transit Centre.
