We're contacting you with some additional guidance about the BTEC Tech Award in Creative Media Production Component 1 Pearson-set assignment (PSA) for the summer 2027 series.

We've received a small number of questions about the target audience referenced in the assignment context, specifically the reference to young adults aged 18–24.

We can confirm that the PSA is correct and no amendments are needed.

What does the 18–24 age range mean?

The age range relates to the target audience for the theme of 'Community'. Students may choose an appropriate media product that appeals to young adults, including those aged 18–24.

This does not mean the product must be rated 18+, and you're not expected to deliver 18+ content.

Your delivery and programme staff should continue to use their professional judgement to decide what is appropriate for your learners within the context and age range set out in the PSA. You can continue to teach and deliver the qualification in line with the specification. The requirements of the assessment and marking criteria remain unchanged.
