Calidus celebrates maiden gold pour
Five years ago Calidus Resources pulled off what many thought was an impossible task – the bringing together of multiple disparate parties who owned gold leases in the Pilbara within cooee of each other. Since then, Calidus has exquisitely executed a strategy of drilling out those leases, pulling together a resource and a reserve and this week, the company managed to achieve what many others could not – a maiden gold pour.

Kalamazoo launches Pilbara gold hunt on Hemi doorstep
Gold explorer Kalamazoo Resources has launched a maiden 2500m RC drilling campaign at its Mallina West project 100km from Port Hedland in Western Australia. The venture sits along strike and within the same structural corridor housing De Grey Mining’s head-turning Hemi discovery. Work at the project will focus on a trio of high-priority targets, including the Wattle Plains and Hockey prospects.

High grade gold discovery for Wiluna
Wiluna Mining’s foray into drill-testing the down-plunge extensions of high-grade gold mineralisation at the historically-significant East Lode has come up trumps, returning an impressive 9.4 metres at 4.87 grams per tonne gold that included 1.8m delivering 9.74g/t of the precious yellow metal. The mineralisation was reportedly intercepted 200m below historical workings and the current mineral resource envelope.

Noronex to follow up soil samples with drill bit
Copper-focused junior explorer Noronex has started infill sampling the soils of its Daheim prospect in Namibia’s Kalahari copper belt where it recently tabled a series of hits including an impressive 27m running a respectable 1.6 per cent copper. The program will cover a 3km by 2km wide area adjacent to the known high-grade, wide intercepts and will be followed up with further drilling.

Twenty Seven Co discovers new WA gold targets
Junior explorer Twenty Seven Co has unveiled a slew of gold-in-soil geochemical anomalies at its Yarbu gold project, 160km northeast of Southern Cross in Western Australia. The latest round of auger drilling has confirmed three previous anomalies etched out from last year’s program along with highlighting a new target area with samples grading up to 92.7 parts per billion gold.

Askari samples high-priority WA lithium targets
Multi-element explorer Askari Metals has wrapped up a project-wide exploration campaign at its Yarrie lithium project in WA, 50km northeast of Marble Bar. Viewing the project through a geological lens, the company previously revealed several significant and high-priority targets that have now all been inspected and sampled in the field. In total 129 rock and 238 stream sediment samples were collected.

Torque signs up for new nickel survey for at Paris project
As explorer Torque Metals gets ready for the one-year anniversary of its ASX listing, the company has appointed two contractors to carry out a planned moving loop electromagnetic survey at the Domingo and interpreted Melchior anomalies to test for conductive nickel sulphides at its cornerstone Paris gold project. The survey is slated for 2-3 weeks in late June.

Saints yields more high-grade nickel hits for Auroch
Auroch Minerals’ first quarter diamond-drilling program has returned four more high-grade massive nickel sulphide results from its Saints nickel project in the world class Norseman-Wiluna Greenstone Belt. New figures include a single-hole result showing 2.40 metres at 2.10 per cent nickel, 0.14 per cent copper, 0.09 per cent cobalt and 0.36 grams per tonne PGE from 263.78m.

Austrian oil flow rates almost double for ADX
Flow rates from ADX Energy’s Anshof-3 oil discovery in the Upper Vienna Basin have almost doubled since testing of the Eocene reservoir started two weeks ago in Austrian oilfields. The company reported a top flow rate of 132 barrels of oil per day with no water, up from an initial 75 barrels of oil per day flowing from the six-metre horizon.

Lithium Energy casts wider net in Argentine brine hunt
Lithium Energy is adding scale to its battery metals hunt at its Solaroz lithium brine project in Argentina after executing an agreement with a geophysics company to launch a TEM survey across all of the project’s concessions. The explorer is currently vectoring in on a set of high-priority drill targets through a passive seismic campaign, however will now cast a wider net through the expanded program.

Accelerate books first JORC figure for kaolin project
Vytas Resources and its 33 per cent partner Accelerate Resources have tabled the maiden JORC resource for the joint venture’s Tambellup kaolin project in WA’s south west, as Vytas steams ahead for a planned ASX IPO this quarter. Accelerate exchanged its Tambellup project for a 33 per cent interest in Vytas’ critical minerals and technology business in November 2021.

Nearology report enhances Alaskan acreage for 88 Energy
88 Energy’s hunch reservoirs charging an adjacent oil discovery might continue into its Icewine project acreage on the Alaskan North Slope looks to have paid off with third-party mapping interpreting three target reservoir units extending into the company’s permit areas.  An in-depth petrophysical re-evaluation of Icewine-1 and the broader area has been carried out by independent petrophysical consultants.

Aurumin turns up pegmatites amidst lithium soils in WA
Mineral explorer Aurumin has completed a lithium-focused drilling program into its Mt Palmer gold project in WA, coinciding with the return of positive soil sample results. The 12-hole program drilled 1212m into target B of the Vickers Find South prospect and intersected pegmatites ranging from one to 40m in thickness in 11 of the 12 holes. Assays to reveal the lithium content are currently pending.

King River delivers with vanadium extraction results
King River Resources says salt roast test work with Murdoch University has delivered exceptional first-pass extraction results of up to 92 per cent vanadium concentrate using ore from its Speewah deposit in the Kimberley region of WA. The company is currently hammering away on a new green process flowsheet to produce high-purity vanadium pentoxide, vanadium electrolyte, titanium dioxide and metallic iron from the deposit.

After analysing samples enriched in high-value rare earth elements from its Morgan’s Creek prospect, Taruga Minerals has locked onto a highly-coveted ionic adsorption clay style of deposit. Traditionally, the explorer has focused on copper exploration at the Mt Craig project, however the rare earths revelation could add some serious value to the South Australian venture.

Single focus Kaiser to sell Stuart Town gold project
Australian gold miner Kaiser Reef has cleared its decks and will focus on its turnaround, high-grade Victorian gold assets after announcing it would be divesting its NSW Stuart Town gold project into a new ASX-listing.  Kaiser will hold a free carried 10 per cent stake in IPO aspirant Checkmate Minerals upon listing.

Gold targets beckon on Surefire’s new WA tenure
Surefire has used a historical data review to light up 15 priority gold and nickel targets at its newly granted Perenjori West tenure, 300km northeast of Perth. The under explored tenure lies within the West Yilgarn nickel-copper-PGE province that has been the recent focus of intense exploration following the discovery of Chalice Mining’s world-class Julimar PGE deposit.
