Critical Minerals shines spotlight on QLD vanadium
Critical Minerals Group has the white hot battery metals space by the horns with the promise of the latest metal du jour, vanadium, looming large for the company that only listed on the ASX less than three months ago. Critical is seeking to carve out a name for itself with its Lindfield project in the heart of prime vanadium country in Queensland that it says could develop into an ideal operation for open cut mining.

Esperance; sun, sea, surf….and rare earths
With an ever-increasing spotlight shining on rare earths, a former sleepy tourist town on the WA south coast could be on the cusp of becoming the next epicentre of a rare earths mineral boom.  One of the major attractions of the area is the discovery of “clay-hosted” rare earths which, unlike their hard rock counterparts, can be considerably easier to mine – and they can exist in vast quantities.

Quantum plots thermal power via graphite energy cells
Unlike traditional participants in the energy technology space Quantum Graphite plans to extract value from its Uley mine in South Australia through the development of heat cells that could ultimately replace coal in thermal power plants. The work stream is all part of a 50-50 joint venture agreement with Melbourne-based Sunlands Company that will see the duo establish a major downstream energy business.

High purity samples buoy Allup Silica in southern WA
Hand auger sampling on farmland in southern WA has revealed high purity silica grades averaging 98.8 per cent at Allup Silica’s Sparkler C project. The company is now readying the air-core rigs for an early 2023 campaign and is expecting test results from its Esperance silica sands project in the next few months.

ADX chasing Austrian gas after locking in cash
ADX Energy is cashed up and ready to probe its massive Welchau gas prospect in Upper Austria after Canadian investment group Kepis & Pobe Financial completed a payment of $305,000 to fund the well’s pre-drill costs. Welchau-1 well is expected to cost $5.9 million to complete and the company says the prospect could offer a best technical prospective resource of 807 billion cubic feet of gas or 134 million barrels of oil equivalent.

Western Mines hits nickel sulphides in east Goldfields
Massive nickel sulphide readings of up to 57 per cent nickel have been recorded down the bottom of Western Mines Group’s deepest drill hole so far at its Mulga Tank nickel-copper-PGE deposit in the eastern Goldfields. The 647m diamond drill hole returned a 506m interest area containing magnesium oxide-rich igneous rock from 120m down.

Lithium Energy strikes further brines in Argentina
Battery metals company Lithium Energy has latched onto a pair of conductive brines after plunging its second and third diamond holes at its flagship Solaroz project in Argentina. The brines were intersected at depths of 185m and 158m respectively and the discovery forms part of a larger 5000-metre campaign aiming to validate a previously declared exploration target and define a maiden JORC-compliant lithium resource.

PolarX follows up bonanza gold hit in US mountains
ASX-listed PolarX is working the drill rigs over the Christmas holidays to follow up a bonanza gold hit from its maiden campaign in Nevada’s historic Humboldt mountain range near the west coast of USA. An exploration campaign in May unearthed an impressive 9.1m intercept at 124.4 g/t gold amid several wide, low-grade intersections on the doorstep of a long-serving goldmine.

Antilles eyes resource estimate at Cuban gold project
Antilles Gold will establish a resource estimate at its El Pilar gold-copper project in Cuba with a 10,000m drill campaign next year. The company was motivated to proceed following recent assays from its latest 1800m program that include a 20m gold strike from surface at 2.87 g/t, within which sat a 3m run at 13.81 g/t. The drill program returned excellent copper assays too, headlined by an 18.5m strike at 5.52 per cent copper from 59m.

Survey highlights Esperance rare earth targets for OD6
A successful airborne electromagnetic survey has highlighted a suite of high-priority targets for OD6 Metals across the company’s Splinter Rock and Grass Patch rare earth projects in the Esperance region of WA. The company says early data from the survey strongly aligns with recent drilling results and has identified a combined clay basin target area of more than 250 square kilometres.

Fresh probe scores visual hits for International Graphite
ASX-listed International Graphite has tabled a swag of visual graphite mineralisation after completing an RC drilling program at its previously untapped SDE_1 target near Hopetoun in Western Australia’s south. The zone was lit up in a previous airborne electromagnetic survey and is positioned a mere 2km from the company’s existing 15 million-tonne Springdale resource.

Askari unearths lithium at Namibian project
Askari Metals has encountered visible lithium mineralisation from the first phase of drilling at its Uis lithium project in Namibia in addition to intersecting tantalum and tin in the site’s pegmatites. The company has just wrapped up its first drill campaign at the African operation where it completed 59 RC holes for 3017m as part of an overall 10,000m program set to recommence in February next year.

Aruma grows WA gold project greenstone belt width
Southeast Goldfields explorer Aruma Resources has quadrupled the width of a greenstone belt in its Salmon Gums gold project and will now vector in on drill targets with aerial and ground surveys in the new year. The new definition enables the company to expand its interpreted strike width from 700m to more than 3km running the length of the strike. Maiden assays revealed in March this year include a 5m strike at 50.2 g/t gold from 42m.

Godolphin bolsters rare earths roster with two tenements
Mineral explorer Godolphin Resources has strengthened its burgeoning rare earths portfolio with the acquisition of two exploration licences in New South Wales and Queensland. The company picked up the ground after sifting through publicly available geological data and says it could commence boots on the ground exploration as early as January 2023.

Sample program unearths Pilbara nickel for Infinity Mining
Rock chip sampling at Infinity Mining’s Brisbane nickel prospect in the Pilbara region of Western Australia has returned anomalous nickel and chromium results within the company’s greater Panorama project. The explorer collected a total of 35 samples at the site with assays showing results of up to 7636 parts-per-million nickel and 8918ppm chromium consistent with previous geochemical results.

Surefire lands wide vanadium hits near 151Mt deposit
RC drilling at Surefire Resources' Victory Bore deposit in WA’s Mid West region has returned a host of broad vanadium intercepts with widths of up to 92m at 0.41 per cent vanadium pentoxide. The company says the probe has led to the discovery of three parallel mineralised lodes which it believes could bolster its already massive 151 million tonnes mineral resource once additional drilling and modelling is complete.

Atlas mineral sands plot shapes up for Image Resources
Image Resources has updated its Wheatbelt-based Atlas deposit mineral resource to 17.3Mt going 5.7 per cent heavy minerals as its flagship Boonanarring mineral sands project north of Perth inches toward end of mine life. The Atlas project is in addition to recently acquired holdings in the Eneabba precinct. The deposit contains zircon, rutile, leucoxene and ilmenite.
