Surefire hires experienced vanadium executive as Managing Director
Perth-based minerals explorer Surefire Resources has appointed as managing director a highly experienced resources executive with a 30-year career in exploration and mining. Paul Burton is a geologist with an MSc in Mineral Exploration from McGill University, Canada and was recently the MD of Tivan, formerly TNG. His experience in vanadium will be welcome at Surefire which has massive vanadium resources in WA.

Southern Hemisphere tables serious grade copper samples 
Southern Hemisphere Mining’s rock chip sampling program has unearthed some stellar results, with the best samples containing as much as 16.3 per cent copper, 0.94 grams per tonne of gold and a whopping 1495 g/t of silver, all of which were found in previously unexplored areas within the company’s Llahuin Project in Chile.

Lithium Energy nails super grade graphite in QLD
Emerging battery mineral explorer, Lithium Energy has nailed some exceptional graphite intercepts at its 100 per cent-owned Burke Graphite Project in Queensland, confirming the project hosts one of the highest-grade graphite deposits globally. Notably, significant intercepts of unusually high-grade graphite rating higher than 20 per cent total graphitic carbon over thick widths are reported in multiple drill holes.

Torque tables bonanza 39m gold hit in Goldfields
The latest high-grade assays from Torque Metals’ most recent round of RC drilling at its Paris gold project in the WA Goldfields have bolstered its case both for more exploration and a mining camp. Headline figures from phase five of its campaign include a serious 39m hit going 6.05g/t gold from 175m that housed a 10.66 gram per tonne 9m intersection from 178m and 3m at 29.4g/t gold from 202m.

Pan Asia extends Thailand lithium resource
Pan Asia Metals has received results from step-out drilling at its Reung Kiet lithium project in southern Thailand with assays showing extensions of the existing mineral resource at depth and along strike. The company is continuing infill and extensional drilling at the site and says the latest assays support the geological model of extensive lithium mineralisation hosted in lepidolite-rich pegmatite dykes and veins.

Brightstar chases gold extensions with fresh WA drilling campaign
Brightstar Resources is set to kick off a fresh 6300m RC drilling campaign at its flagship Cork Tree Well project as it looks to extend its gold mineralisation along strike to the north and at depth. The company says the 30-hole program will also include infill drilling at the project’s main structure as it looks to convert inferred mineralisation into indicated JORC resource status.

Askari doubles down on Namibian lithium play after successful season
Askari Metals has commenced a project wide mapping and sampling program across part of its Uis lithium project in Namibia after its first phase of drilling hit visible lithium in addition to tantalum and tin. The company says most of the project remains unexplored, something the current program will be looking to rectify before the company launches its second phase of drilling.

St George secures option for Goldfields lithium project
St George Mining has entered into a binding agreement for an option to pick up the Woolgangie critical metals project that covers around 1200 square kilometres in the Goldfields region of WA. The company says Woolgangie is prospective for lithium, nickel-copper sulphides and ionic clay-hosted rare earths mineralisation. The package includes nine granted or in application exploration licences and extends south-west of Coolgardie and west of Kambalda.

Kalamazoo scoops up further lithium-prospective east coast tenure
Junior explorer Kalamazoo has expanded its lithium-prospective tenure in the up-and-coming lithium area of the Lachlan Fold Belt of Victoria and NSW. The highly prospective geology in the expanded project area is an extension of the Lachlan Fold Belt geology that hosts Dart Mining’s neighbouring Dorchap LCT pegmatite project in north-east Victoria.

Fresh ENRG assays bolster looming uranium resource
Ahead of a revised mineral resource at its Takardeit deposit, ENRG Elements has mopped up a pool of notable uranium assays which have validated a batch of previously acquired downhole gamma results at its Agadez project in Niger, West Africa. Notable intersections include a 1m hit going 1100 parts per million uranium from a shallow depth of just over 4m.

ABx testwork delivers chart topping rare earths extraction rates
Test work on rare earths samples collected from ABx Group’s Deep Leads and Rubble Mound deposits in northern Tasmania have delivered Australia’s highest reported clay-hosted rare earths extraction rates with returns of up to 83 per cent. In addition, the program unearthed a wave of potential extensions to the zones’ mineralisation and the company has now mobilised a drill rig to test the newly identified zones.

Quantum finalises design of thermal energy pilot project
Quantum Graphite has completed the design of its pilot thermal energy storage and power generation system as it moves one step closer to producing long-duration energy devices at an industrial scale. The finalised design of the systems follows the company’s successful high-temperature testing in November that was introduced to mimic the conditions inside a thermal energy cell throughout its charging and discharging stages. Testing was completed alongside the operation’s project engineers, ProTherm Systems.
