NATIONAL POLICE MEMORIAL DAY
This year, National Police Memorial Day was held on September 29 at the Royal Concert Hall in Glasgow, marking the 21st anniversary of this poignant event. The gathering honored the bravery and sacrifice of police officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty. Over 1,000 family members, colleagues, and supporters came together to remember and pay tribute to more than 5,000 officers who have fallen in service over the past 180 years.
The reflective ceremony featured heartfelt tributes, including a memorial service attended by families, colleagues, and dignitaries, emphasizing the enduring legacy of these fallen heroes. Moments of silence underscored the commitment to support the bereaved and commemorate the dedication of those who serve and protect their communities. The day began with a police parade, where over 40 force standards from across the UK marched from George Square to the Royal Concert Hall. Candles were lit to honor individuals and families from Scotland, England, Northern Ireland, and Wales, as silence was observed in memory of the fallen. |
