Achievement Accommodations Special Email
January 4, 2022
Achievement District Test Coordinators,

In order to adapt to and support the needs of our students and educators, ADE would like to clarify the processes and requirements for submitting accommodations requests for the Statewide Achievement Assessments.

Statewide assessments have Universal Tools, Universal Test Administration Conditions, and Accommodations.

For AASA, AzSCI, and ACT Aspire, Universal Tools/Designated Supports, English Learner (EL) Supports, and some accommodations (unless otherwise noted in this email) are available to all students and do not require the submission of an Additional Accommodations Request or ADE approval to use during test administration. For students with an IEP or a 504 Plan, these supports should still be identified in the students' IEP or 504 Plan.

For the 2021-2022 school year, for AASA, AzSCI, and ACT Aspire, only the following accommodations must be submitted to ADE for review and approval.

AASA (Grades 3-8) and AzSCI (Grades 5, 8, and 11/Cohort 2023)
NOTE: EL Accommodations are considered Universal Supports and do not require submission to ADE for approval.

ACT Aspire (Grade 9/Cohort 2025)
NOTE: ACT Aspire trainings, including for creating and loading the Personal Needs Profile (PNP), will be posted no later than January 7 on the ACT-hosted website for Arizona.

NOTE: EL Supports are considered Universal Supports and do not require submission to ADE for approval. Please note, Simplified Directions are not permitted on the ACT Aspire.
ACT (Grade 11/Cohort 2023)
