Achievement District Test Coordinator Updates and Reminders
February 10, 2022
Achievement District Test Coordinators,

ADE has uploaded students for Achievement testing for AASA, ACT, and ACT Aspire. ADE will be uploading students for AzSCI later this month.

As we have completed these student uploads, many of you have noticed that students who are eligible to participate in the Alternate Assessment, MSAA, have been uploaded to PearsonAccessNext (PAN). This is because there is no indicator within AzEDS to indicate that a student participates in MSAA. As a result, these students do get captured in our student uploads to PAN. This is not a change in practice and has also been the case in prior years with AzM2/AzMERIT. However, students who participate in MSAA should not be administered AASA, AzSCI, ACT, or ACT Aspire. These students do not need to be deleted from PAN. PAN is not used for Accountability, so it is safe to leave these student records there, but please do not administer AASA, AzSCI, ACT, or ACT Aspire to students who take the Alternate Assessment.

Please see below for Achievement testing updates and reminders for AASA, AzSCI, ACT, and ACT Aspire.

AASA Reminders

  • Verify your contact information and shipping address in PearsonAccessNext. If any information is incorrect, notify us at AASA@azed.gov by February 14, 2022.
  • Students have been uploaded to PAN for the operational AASA test. Please review your student rosters and add any students who are not in PAN.
  • For any approved Special Paper Version (SPV) tests, ADE will create the SPV test session, move the student into the SPV test session, and place an order for the SPV test booklets.
  • Copies of Test Coordinator's Manuals and Test Administration Directions will be delivered to districts and charters March 21-24, 2022. Both manuals will posted electronically on our website and in PAN soon.
Paper-based Testing Schools
  • Add any new students in PAN by February 18, 2022 to receive Pre-ID labels for students. Any student who does not receive a Pre-ID label must have their demographic information bubbled in on the paper test booklet.
  • Paper test booklets and Pre-ID labels will be delivered to districts and charters March 21-24, 2022. Pre-ID labels will arrive in a separate shipment than the test booklets.
AASA Test Units

Students in Grades 4-8 will have three test units for ELA: Writing, ELA 1 (Reading), and ELA 2 (Reading); and two test units for Math: Math 1 and Math 2.

In PAN, you will see only two sessions for these students: one for ELA and one for Math. During testing, you will access all ELA test units under the one session for ELA (with one student testing ticket) and all Math test units under the one session for Math (with one student testing ticket). See screenshot below.
Students in Grade 3 are set up in PAN a little differently due to the Oral Reading Fluency test. Grade 3 students will have a separate session in PAN for each ELA test unit: Writing, ELA 1 (Reading), ELA 2 (Reading), and Oral Reading Fluency. Each will require a separate testing ticket.

For Grade 3, there will be two test units for Math: Math 1 and Math 2. As with Grades 4-8, these units will be in one Math session, requiring one student testing ticket.
AzSCI Reminders

  • ADE will upload students for AzSCI testing. The last day to revise enrollments in AzEDS prior to ADE's student upload is February 17, 2022.
  • ADE's upload of students will be visible in PAN on February 21, 2022.
  • Verify your contact information and shipping address in PearsonAccessNext. If any information is incorrect, notify us at AzSCI@azed.gov by February 25, 2022.
  • Hard copies of Test Coordinator's Manuals and Test Administration Directions will not be sent to districts or charters for AzSCI. These manuals are posted electronically on our website and in PearsonAccessNext. A limited number of copies will be available to order during the AzSCI Additional Order window, if needed.
  • For any approved Special Paper Version (SPV) tests, ADE will create the SPV test session, move the student into the SPV test session, and place an order for the SPV test booklets.
In the AzSCI training module, there is an error on Slide 6, which refers to AzSCI as "AzSCI Field Test". We are aware of this error, but unfortunately, we are unable to make a correction to the module at this point. Please note that Spring 2022 is the first operational administration of the AzSCI test. The AzSCI test this year is not a field test. AzSCI results will be provided to districts, schools, and students.

If you have any questions about AzSCI, please contact us at AzSCI@azed.gov.

The ACT Score Report Schedule has now been posted on the ACT-hosted website for Arizona, under Step 7: Interpretation. Students and schools will receive printed score reports 5-8 weeks following testing. Districts will have access to a final student data file no later than June 23, 2022.
The first Aspire live Q&A Chat (with Aspire experts) was held yesterday, February 9. Five additional sessions have been scheduled February - May 2022. Please attend one of these sessions if you have questions about Aspire. Following each session, a recording will also be available on demand. You can register for any of the sessions here.

Use the Aspire Personal Needs Profile (PNP) file to:
