Achievement District Test Coordinator Updates and Reminders
April 11, 2022
Achievement District Test Coordinators,

Please note the following test windows closing this week.
  • AASA - Paper-based test window closes April 13, 2022. This includes entering student responses for any Special Paper Version tests at paper-based testing schools. Computer-based testing schools have the computer-based testing window to administer Special Paper Version tests and enter responses into TestNav.
  • AASA - Computer-based test window for ELA Writing closes April 15, 2022. This includes entering students responses for ELA Writing for any Special Paper Version tests.
  • AzSCI - Test window closes April 15, 2022. Please ensure that student responses for any Special Paper Version tests have been entered in TestNav by April 15.
  • ACT - Final online testing days (standard and accommodations) include April 12, 13, and 14.
  • ACT - Final paper accommodations testing days include April 11-15.
  • ACT Aspire - Paper-based test window closes April 13, 2022. This includes all Special Paper Version tests, for paper-based and computer-based schools. For ACT Aspire, Special Paper Version test responses are not entered in TestNav by the Test Administrator, but instead are transferred to an answer document and returned to ACT Aspire for scanning and scoring.
Student Log-In Information
When students are logging into TestNav to begin testing, please note there are separate selections for "ACT," "ACT Aspire," and "Arizona" in TestNav.
  • "Arizona" should be selected to proceed to AASA or AzSCI testing.
  • "ACT" should be selected to proceed to ACT testing.
  • "ACT Aspire" should be selected to proceed to ACT Aspire testing.
Marking Tests Complete
  • AASA and AzSCI: Please do not mark tests "Complete" in PAN for AASA or AzSCI. Pearson is marking tests complete for these assessments.
  • ACT and ACT Aspire: As stated in the manuals, when an examinee finishes the last test, the examinee's status is automatically updated to "Completed." If an examinee does not finish testing (e.g., dismissal, illness), the room supervisor must manually mark the examinee's test complete.
Assistance Needed While Students are Testing

  • If students are testing, use "URGENT: Students Testing" in the subject area when contacting us. Emails received about students testing who need assistance right away are prioritized.
  • State the problem and provide only SSIDs of students - to protect student privacy, do not include student names.
Technology Issues While Testing

If your student is showing as Ready and Unlocked in PAN but they are unable to start testing in TestNav, please check the following:

  1. The student must be accessing the test via the TestNav app, not through the browser. Arizona has disabled testing through testnav.com and requires students to use the secure application.
  2. Are all browser windows closed on the device? TestNav will not allow testing to begin if other windows are open.
  3. Please be sure bandwidth is not maxxed out as this will cause connectivity issues throughout testing.
  4. If none of the above apply, please try moving the student to a different device.
Please contact Pearson directly if you are unable to gain access due to connectivity issues that cannot be solved with the troubleshooting tips above.

Pearson Customer Support: 1-888-705-9421 (Option 1 for AzSCI, Option 3 for AASA)

Important: Testing should be scheduled so that students have more than adequate time to complete the test before the end of the school day. If students start testing late in the day and experience technology issues, the student may not be allowed back into the test on the next day.
Work Request Guidelines

Once testing has begun, please check if a student has already completed testing prior to approving a transfer request. Please use the following guidelines for AASA, AzSCI, and ACT Aspire:
  • If a student has not started testing, APPROVE the transfer request.
  • If a student has completed one or more test units, but has not completed the entire test (AASA, AzSCI, or ACT Aspire), APPROVE the transfer request.
  • If a student has completed all test units of the assessment (AASA, AzSCI, or ACT Aspire), REJECT the transfer request and indicate in the comments field, "Student has already completed testing."
Note: The Work Request process is not utilized for student transfers for the ACT test. For ACT, use the "Support Request" process described in the ACT section of this email. ACT will then check if a student has already completed testing before processing the support request.
Paper-Based Testing Schools - Returning Materials

All regular paper-based test booklets and any Special Paper Version test booklets from paper-based testing schools must be picked up for return to Pearson no later than April 14, 2022. Follow the packing and return shipment instructions in the Test Coordinator's Manual. In addition, all test responses from Special Paper Version tests in paper-based testing schools must be entered in TestNav by the Test Administrator by April 14, 2022 in order to be scored.

AASA Test Coordinator's Manuals and Test Administration Directions are not secure test material and do not need to be returned to Pearson. These may be discarded locally.
Reminders about AASA Test Units and Testing Tickets

Students in Grades 4-8 will have three test units for ELA: Writing, ELA 1 (Reading), and ELA 2 (Reading); and two test units for Math: Math 1 and Math 2.

In PAN, there are two sessions for students in Grades 4-8: one for ELA and one for Math. During testing, you will access all ELA test units under the one test session for ELA (with one testing ticket) and all Math test units under the one session for Math (with one testing ticket).

See screenshot below:
Students in Grade 3 are set up in PAN a little differently due to the Oral Reading Fluency (ORF) test. Grade 3 students will have a separate session in PAN for each ELA test unit: Writing, ELA 1 (Reading), ELA 2 (Reading), and Oral Reading Fluency. Each will require a separate testing ticket.

For Grade 3, there will be two test units for Math: Math 1 and Math 2. As with Grades 4-8, these units will be in one math session, requiring one student testing ticket.
If you have any questions about AASA, please contact us at AASA@azed.gov.
The AzSCI test window closes on April 15, 2022. Responses for any Special Paper Version tests must also be entered into TestNav by April 15, 2022.

Special Paper Version test materials must be picked up for return to Pearson by April 19, 2022. Follow the packing and return shipment instructions in the Test Coordinator's Manual.

AzSCI Test Coordinator's Manuals and Test Administration Directions are not secure test material and do not need to be returned to Pearson. These may be discarded locally.

If you have any questions about AzSCI, please contact us at AzSCI@azed.gov.
For issues during ACT testing, please contact ACT Customer Support at 319-337-1567. This is an Arizona-specific ACT number, and any technical issues or concerns that occur during testing will be prioritized.

Arizona is not utilizing the ACT State-Use Questions. When students see the screen in TestNav regarding the state questions, please advise them to proceed past this screen.

Paper testing schools may administer online makeup tests, as needed, during the online testing dates in the window. For more information, please see the ACT document, Switching from Paper to Online Testing.

Reminders:
  • Students may complete information in MyACT prior to testing and up to two days after students finish testing. Students who set up a MyACT account will have the opportunity to send their ACT scores to up to 4 colleges or scholarship agencies for free and will receive their test results 11-14 days faster than waiting for paper score reports.
  • There is a report in ACT's PAN where you can see which students have used their student code to access the non-test information in MyACT. To access the report, go to Reports > Published Reports. In the "Find Reports" field, enter: Student Code Usage.
If you need to add students to your rosters in PAN for ACT testing, you will need to submit a Support Request to ACT using the Enroll or Unenroll Students file. Complete this template, then in ACT's PAN site, go to Support > Support Requests, then create a request to make the change. ACT will use the template to import and format the student data for you. This process is also used to add students who have newly transferred into your school or district.

If you have any questions about ACT, please contact us at Testing@azed.gov.
For issues during ACT Aspire testing, please contact ACT Aspire Customer Support at 855-730-0400.

Reminders:
  • Sessions for ACT Aspire were not automatically created when students were uploaded to PAN by ADE. This step must be completed by schools/districts. A tutorial is available on the Aspire webpage under Step 4: Preparation.
Please reference the Aspire Accessibility Supports Guide for information about Aspire accommodations, designated supports, and English learner supports. The test coordinator is responsible for documenting these supports on the Personal Needs Profile (PNP) and maintaining documentation securely on file for one year after testing.

Use the Aspire Personal Needs Profile (PNP) file to:
  • Assign accommodations for online testing
  • Create test sessions and assign students to sessions
  • Create testing groups/classes (optional)
More information about the Aspire PNP file can be located under Step 3: Accommodation on the ACT-hosted Aspire webpage.

If you have any questions about ACT Aspire, please contact us at Testing@azed.gov.
