FOUNDER’S HELLO
We may never have met, but CAI connects us--through our mutual reliance on NPR, and through our commitment to local programming, which reminds us that we all share this place. We're neighbors. If you're reading this quarterly newsletter, then I suspect you are a public radio fan and a good neighbor, and even though we can't actually see each other, please know that I and all of my colleagues at CAI know you are there, and we appreciate you. Every day.
Jay Allison,
Founder and Executive Producer, CAI Public Radio
Host and Producer, The Moth Radio Hour
Sunday Evening Host, Arts and Ideas

Don’t miss our Breakfast of Champions, a private breakfast for you, our Founders Circle members, Thursday, June 16, 9-11 AM in advance of the 2022 Nantucket Book Festival. We have reserved the second floor of Lemon Press Organic Eatery & Café in Nantucket to gather with local CAI talent, enjoy great food, and listen to CAI’s special author episode on The Point with Mindy Todd, as she broadcasts from right down the street. Mindy and some of her guests will join us after the show. RSVP to Founders_Circle_CAI@capeandislands.org.
A good time was had by all when Founders Circle story lovers enjoyed a live performance of The Moth at the Zeiterion, in March, and posed for photos with Jay Allison and the storytellers. If you can make it to Martha’s Vineyard you will have another chance to join us for The Moth--this time with cocktails!—on August 6, 2022. We will have a limited supply of very good seats when The Moth returns to The Tabernacle. Let’s drink to that! (Be on the lookout for an email invitation this summer or send us your interest now to Founders_Circle_CAI@capeandislands.org)
And another perks opportunity came through zoom with a virtual meet and greet with Morning Edition’s Steve Inskeep last month. One lucky Founders Circle family answered our email and got the last available seats to see a more intimate side of our favorite NPR morning host.

“The event was great fun and certainly informative. Thank you for including us!!”

Info to enhance your listening experience
NPR’s Pop Culture show It’s Been a Minute airing on CAI Saturdays, 5:30 – 6PM, is looking for a new host after five years with Sam Sanders. Guest hosts continue to help us make sense of the world through conversation. Listen to find out who the next host will be.
On Being is leaving public radio for a future in podcasting. Stay tuned to CAI, Sundays at 7AM, to see which show will replace the popular On Being with Krista Tippett. The recent announcement states that the production will say goodbye to 400 public radio stations on June 23, 2002 but expects to be available in podcast form in October.
FC APPLAUSE
Founders Circle champions and staff in our communities
Founders Circle family member, Chris Miller deserves applause for his performance on the Flop Off episode of Radiolab, which airs on CAI Thursdays, 2PM and Sundays, 1PM. Chris was asked to teach a producer, who had never done a belly flop in her life, the correct technique. Listen here: Radiolab - Flop Off
Susan Peltier is a Founders Circle listener and she also wants us to know that she is a big fan of Misty Meadows, a Martha’s Vineyard Equine Learning Center with a mission to provide a nurturing environment where horses and humans transform each other’s lives. Thank you, Susan, for bringing this organization to our attention as they strive to make an impact on the world, one horse experience at a time.
Applause to staffers Dan Tritle and Mindy Todd for their after-hours outreach in the community. Dan visited with the Falmouth Newcomers Club via zoom to fill them in on all things public radio and Mindy was the moderator last month at the Cape Cinema for a sold-out screening and discussion of the documentary film, The Last of the Right Whales.
FC PRESENTS
CAI programs and features that create our signature sound

The Point is WCAI’s local public affairs show. Issues common to listeners in the Cape, Coast and Islands region are discussed at 9AM Monday - Friday (and rebroadcast at 7PM) with experts in their field. Sometimes solutions to the problems of life are uncovered and discussed and sometimes we just have fun discovering a new hobby, author, or artist.

Mindy Todd started the show in 2001 as both host and producer and is currently the show’s executive producer. Amy Vince signed on to help Mindy in 2012 and became the producer and fill in host. Kathryn Eident, Jenette Barnes, and Eve Zuckoff have also taken a turn in the host seat. Steve Junker can be found hosting every Friday for the News Roundup version of the show when local print journalists join us to highlight the week’s regional news.
FC REPLAY
Enjoy at your leisure and share with your friends & family

Join Reporter Eve Zuckoff as she reaches out over the Atlantic Ocean to collaborate with a radio station in England to connect us through conversation with a similar coastal community and see how we are different and how we are alike.
Jennette Barnes hosts The Point, and discusses what gender really is, and why it matters.

Join Kathryn Eident as she hosts The Point for an important discussion called When racism becomes too much
