How $2 Transformed a Family's Health |
We used $2 of your money to provide one family with life-changing nutrition for 3 months! Check out the before and after photos taken just 6-weeks apart. God is amazing!
This story starts in the mountains of Tecpan in the village of Chuatzunuj (the village our clinic Clinica Colfax is located in. Last November we sat down with one of the nurses that works in the clinic, Nurse Nancy, a Missionary with Guatemala 4 Christ. She explained to us that she didn't want to be a nurse anymore but really felt called to education. She had the idea of going door to door to educate the people of the village instead of nursing in the Clinica Colfax. Of course, we supported her 110% and started to work on a plan to make her dream happen. When she returned in January of this year after spending time with her family in the states for the holidays, she started out. Nancy was a long distance runner growing up so walking up and down the mountains is much easier for her. But the elevation of 9,000ft will put a hurt on anyone. The first few months she started to see people around the clinic to begin to make relationships. |

About those early days, Nancy says "Some days I felt like I was worn out but if you lack God's timing, you could miss something very important. We had walked 4 miles that first day, up and down the mountainside. And their house was up a steep path. We all had to debate if we had enough energy to climb one more hill. Finally I said something like, Oh let's climb one more hill for God's glory and in His strength, and see? After we saw the great need we realized that it was God's planned meeting all along. We then climbed down in humility as we almost didn't go there." |

The first meeting with the family was in March. We began to treat scabies, abdominal parasites, and severe malnutrition. They do not have running water at home and the parents are of advanced age. After 6 weeks of visits, medical assessments, and providing them with MannaPack Rice from Orphan Grain Train through ministry partners, they are thriving. The food provided only requires a water source. It’s then boiled for preparation adding to safety. The picture here is from April 1st 2022. |

We went up to the family's house once a week to check on the children. As each week passed we could see small changes in the children but we did not expect the huge difference we would see in the picture six weeks later. We are utilizing international standards for MUAC scores to determine improved nutrition. The visit last week, May 20th 2022, demonstrated scores increased by 0.5 cm to 1.75 cm! They appear fuller and happier. Of course they love to see the delicious food coming up the mountainside too! We supply the family with enough MannaPack Rice for three meals per week. This gives the family a chance to cook something different each day. Praise God for his healing way! An entire shipping container of MannaPack Rice only costs us $2,500 and feeds close to 320,000 people. Let us know if you would be interested in helping feed a nation. Or help provide life-changing nutrition for one family for just $2 for 3 months! |
