Something for you this June

Hello from a cold and rainy Cape Town. Our winter rains have finally arrived and Capetonians are scrambling for drier ground. Sounds of waterfalls are all around us and it’s an awesome sight, a thing to remember if you have ever experienced our Cape storms.
What's New?
There are several new happenings and highlights since my last newsletter and here are some of them…
1. A Beautiful New Kit
I have added a fabulous new kit titled English Cottage and I think you will love it! The kit contains everything that you need to make this beautiful landscape and it’s on special for a short while, while stocks last! Look at the reeds along the water’s edge and the pine trees and the colourful flowers – it’ll look fabulous in any setting!
The prepared kits save you time and effort and it’s good to have everything that you need when starting a new project. Click on the images and you will be taken to the full page with all the details or read more about it here.
2. New Studios Have Opened in South Africa

There is a wonderful teacher and studio shop in Hong Kong named Dancing Needles (Don’t you love the name?) and Annisa Lam is the owner.

Her studio shop appeared on a popular TV programme in Hong Kong, and I thought you would like to see her magnificent rendition of Pink Delight, one of our most popular kits and free online lessons.

1. Monograms

The talented Carman Chan, from Hong Kong, kindly sent me pictures of her lovely monograms and you will see some of them
here. Thank you, Carman, for sharing with all of us!

I have been asked to share this tutorial again on how to fill in a letter or monogram and I will show you raised-stem stitch. You will find it
here. Have fun and looking forward to seeing your designs when you are ready! You can purchase A-Z Monogram Embroidery Panels here

2. April Flowers

I wanted to tell you about my April Flowers design that is featured in Inspirations Studio’s Handpicked Collection. They did such an amazing booklet, beautifully laid out and so easy to follow.

I highly recommend this edition for your collection. Have a look here for more information. The mate for April Flowers (Wildflowers) is still available as a kit and you will find it here

3. Hints and Tips

Have a look at this small clip on my Instagram page where I show how to form a little cute rosebud with a detached chain stitch (lazy daisy) and then how to make the calyx with a grab stitch. This technique helps to create a neater stitch with a narrow tip, and you can add the stem at the same time by twisting the needle and ribbon before making the straight stitch.

On Instagram, you will find useful reels and videos that Jess uploads for all to enjoy. Have a look here for more information.
Do you have a hint or tip for us on anything to do with needlecrafts? Please email me, I would love to hear from you! If possible, I will add it to one of my future newsletters. Everyone loves to learn and it’s a good way to help one another.
Useful Packs

Our best-selling ribbon bundles are a lovely way to build up stock and they make fabulous gifts for a sewing friend or family member too.

Have a look here for the bundles and here for the palettes and starter packs.
And so, with all the choices, I am sure that you will be inspired to stitch. Even if you embroider for twenty minutes a day, it really is such good therapy ☺

What are you busy making?
Jacqui O’ Connell sent me this lovely embroidery by one of her students, Barbara Allum in Johannesburg. Isn’t it lovely? We would love to see what you are making! Please email us your news and pictures, it’s so nice to see what everyone is busy creating! If you can write to tell me what you like about embroidery, what it has meant to you and how it has helped you through difficult and happier times too. Looking forward to hearing from you!
