Something for you this June |
Hello from a cold and rainy Cape Town. Our winter rains have finally arrived and Capetonians are scrambling for drier ground. Sounds of waterfalls are all around us and it’s an awesome sight, a thing to remember if you have ever experienced our Cape storms. |

There are several new happenings and highlights since my last newsletter and here are some of them… |
I have added a fabulous new kit titled English Cottage and I think you will love it! 2. New Studios Have Opened in South Africa

Emma Kriegler
Many of you know about the talented Emma Kriegler and the good news is that she’s moved to Cape Town! Emma has opened her studio in the Durbanville area and those of you lucky enough to live in Cape Town can now attend classes in silk ribbon embroidery and other kinds of needlecrafts too!

Annamaria Kelly
More good news for Durbanites – Annamaria Kelly, a well-known embroidery teacher has moved from Johannesburg, and she is now in Kloof near Durban. Annamaria embroiders beautifully and she has been published in Inspirations Magazine for her award-winning Country Garden.

There is a wonderful teacher and studio shop in Hong Kong named Dancing Needles (Don’t you love the name?) and Annisa Lam is the owner.
Her studio shop appeared on a popular TV programme in Hong Kong, and I thought you would like to see her magnificent rendition of Pink Delight, one of our most popular kits and free online lessons.

Have a look at this small clip on my Instagram page where I show how to form a little cute rosebud with a detached chain stitch (lazy daisy) and then how to make the calyx with a grab stitch. This technique helps to create a neater stitch with a narrow tip, and you can add the stem at the same time by twisting the needle and ribbon before making the straight stitch.

For anyone who needs individual assistance with colour and texture or help with the design of a name to be printed onto cotton fabric, in full colour, ready to be embroidered, we have a customised service available.
If you have a picture or design and need ribbons or threads, fibres, yarns etc. contact us and we can select these for you. All we need is the size of the picture to choose the appropriate threads and ribbons to fit.
Also, if you need colours for your stock, for example, autumn or pastel shades, let us know the size ribbon you want, what kind of thread and the colour scheme and we will select these for you, no problem at all. Contact us.
