FOUNDER’S HELLO
Well, it's Summer again! Many of us on the Cape, Coast, and Islands try to take some summer days off and celebrate being in this beautiful place. CAI has a lot to celebrate this summer too. Did you know that we were the first public radio station in the country to air The Moth Radio Hour? You may also know that Viki Merrick and I produce it in Woods Hole. This summer marks the Silver (25th) Anniversary of The Moth, and we are proud to be a part of that history, creating and sharing work that celebrates our common humanity. Maybe we'll see you at the live show on Martha's Vineyard in August? Thanks for helping CAI be the original public radio home for The Moth and for supporting our mission of service to the community.

Info to enhance your listening experience
Get ready for Fourth of July by tuning into CAI at 8pm on Monday, July 4, for a live broadcast of a special holiday concert performed by the Cape Symphony. Join conductor Jung-Ho Pak as he inspires us with the joy of patriotic music to enhance our holiday spirit and barbecues. Listen and enjoy this special concert for CAI listeners across the region.
It’s official! Climate One has replaced On Being in the Sunday morning 7am spot. It is not often that a space in our programming lineup becomes available, so when On Being decided to leave radio to focus solely on digital podcasting, we had an opportunity to find a replacement that focuses on one of our main reporting priorities; climate. Check it out and let us know what you think by emailing us.

Founders Circle Heroes and staff in our communities
Fellow Founders Circle member Dedee Shattuck loves art, loves nature, and loves to combine and preserve them. In 2011, she and her family opened the primarily solar powered Dedee Shattuck Gallery in Westport, MA.
The mission of the gallery is to “serve contemporary artists and craftspeople as well as the local and global art communities by providing compelling exhibitions, enriching cultural events, and a forum for the exchange of creative thought and critical discussion about the arts. We emphasize the relationship between contemporary art and the environment.” We applaud Dedee and her family for their passion for art and nature.
Our very own Mindy Todd, Managing Director of CAI Editorial, will be moderating a local climate event at the Martha’s Vineyard Museum hosted by The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution on Tuesday July 19th. Co-hosted by the Martha’s Vineyard Bank, the panel will discuss equitable climate solutions featuring Danielle Deane-Ryan (Director of Equitable Climate Solutions, Bezos Earth Fund), and Peter de Menocal (President Director, WHOI). The panel will provide a scientific understanding of our oceans and climate; the impact of climate change on underserved communities, and how we are, and need to, prepare for the future. In addition to the select group gathering in person, WHOI is hoping to be able to broadcast the event as a special Ocean Encounters virtual event, which reaches between 1,000 and 2,000 additional viewers.

And speaking of stories, CAI broadcasts sense of place essays contributed by writers local to the far corners of our listening region. These air every Tuesday morning at 8:45am and afternoon at 5:45pm. Writer Robert Finch in Wellfleet created A Cape Cod Notebook and the series of essays and its writers have won several radio awards for the content and delivery of these commentary pieces about the unique people, wildlife and environment of our coastal region. Pictured in order from top to bottom are essayists Robert Finch, Mary Bergman, Nelson Sigelman, Susan Moeller and Dennis Minsky.
