Achievement District Test Coordinator Updates
September 13, 2022
Dear Achievement District Test Coordinators (DTCs),

DTC communications will be sent regularly throughout the school year and will increase in frequency as we approach the testing windows. As communications are sent to DTCs, they will also be published on the Achievement DTC page of our website under the "Achievement DTC Communications - 2022-2023 School Year" dropdown.

Please see updates below regarding 2022-2023 Achievement testing.
Testing Mode Requests - Opens Monday, September 19

No action needs to be taken if your school site(s)
will remain computer-based for Spring 2023

All Achievement testing is, by default, administered to students by computer/online. The application to request paper administration for school site(s) will be open to District Test Coordinators in ADEConnect September 19 - October 14, 2022.

A separate submission is required for each school site and for each assessment (AASA, AzSCI, ACT Aspire, and/or ACT) for which paper is being requested. When submitting a request, you will need to enter a reason for the testing mode change to paper. ADE's Achievement Assessment team will review each request individually and update the status in the ADEConnect application.

To request paper administration (beginning September 19), you will need to log into ADEConnect. Select Assessments. Click on the dropdown for Achievement Reports, and select Achievement Testing Mode to begin. You must have the ADEConnect role of Achievement District Coordinator to submit a request for paper administration.

Please note: For AzSCI to be administered as a paper test, every student response must be key entered into the TestNav online testing platform once the students have completed testing. This must be completed by a Test Administrator who has been trained and who has signed a test security agreement. All student responses for AzSCI must be entered in TestNav before the end of the AzSCI test window to be scored.
Special Paper Version Test Requests

Open Now through February 24, 2023

Special Paper Version (SPV) test requests for AASA (Grades 3-8), AzSCI (Grades 5, 8, and 11/Cohort 2024), and ACT Aspire (Grade 9/Cohort 2026) may now be submitted to ADE for review and approval using this secure online form: https://www.azed.gov/assessment/spv2023. Data submitted in this form is accessible only to ADE Assessment staff.

Arizona offers the following SPV test formats to meet the needs of students who cannot access the test content through computer-based testing: braille, large print, and regular print paper tests. Please see the SPV Test Request Process Quick Guide for additional information and for the steps necessary to request an SPV test for a student.

District Test Coordinators may submit requests or can authorize School Test Coordinators or other staff members to submit requests. An automated email will be sent to the District Test Coordinator and the person filling out the form to let DTCs know that the information was received and will be reviewed. ADE's Assessment team will then follow up by email after the review is complete or to request additional documentation, if needed.

SPV test requests will be accepted through February 24, 2023; however, we encourage you to submit requests early to allow time for submitting additional documentation if required. Contact us if a student has an injury or illness after February 24, 2023 that necessitates a paper test.

Please note: SPV test requests and other accommodations for ACT (Grade 11/Cohort 2024) are to be submitted directly to ACT using ACT's processes and are not to be submitted to ADE for review and approval.
Additional Accommodations Requests
for AASA, AzSCI, and ACT Aspire

A Quick Guide to assist with the process of requesting Additional Accommodations for AASA, AzSCI, and ACT Aspire is in development and coming soon! These Additional Accommodations requests will not include Universal Tools/Designated Supports, Universal Test Administration Conditions, English Learner Supports, and accommodations available to all students, which do not need to be submitted to ADE for review and approval. More information is coming soon regarding the Additional Accommodations requests that do need to be submitted to ADE for review and approval.

Please see the Achievement Accommodations Manual for more information about testing accommodations and supports.
