Dear Neighbor,

Happy Friday! After years of closure and construction, I am excited to announce that the historic Ravine Bridge in Lake Park is finally reopening to the public this weekend. While the path and road running underneath remains off limits, everyone who visits Lake Park will once again be able to cross the bridge and enjoy its spectacular beauty.

Preserving such an important cultural landmark for future generations to use and enjoy would not have been possible without the hard work and financial contributions of Milwaukee County taxpayers and Lake Park Friends. I want to single out Lake Park Friends for the dedication and work they put into this project from the very beginning.

As I've long promised, we are going to have a big ceremony to celebrate the reopening of the Lake Park Ravine Bridge. It will be held on Tuesday, November 15th, at 1:00PM and will include a ribbon cutting, speeches, entertainment, and delicious catering courtesy of our friends at Bartolotta Restaurants. This reopening ceremony is going to be a great time, and I hope to see you all there!

In this week's e-newsletter, I'm also sharing information about my upcoming Virtual Town Hall Meeting with Supervisor Liz Sumner, Milwaukee's trick-or-treat schedule and other Halloween events going on around District 3 this weekend, and another chance for members of the public to weigh in on Milwaukee County's 2023 Budget.

If you have questions, concerns, or opinions to share, I encourage you to contact my office. My email address and office phone number are posted below. I want to hear from you!

Stay safe, and enjoy your weekend!

Sincerely,

Sheldon Wasserman

Public Hearing on the 2023 Recommended County Budget

Please join the County Board for our annual public hearing on the 2023 Milwaukee County Budget on Tuesday, November 1st, at 6:00PM (doors open at 5:30PM) at the Marcus Performing Arts Center. We are excited to announce that the event is happening in person and encourage residents to attend!

Our annual budget hearing is an opportunity for the public to speak directly to Supervisors about the County budget and tell us YOUR budget priorities. If you would like to attend the November 1st public hearing and speak to Supervisors, there are three options to participate.

First, the recommended method is to attend the meeting in person at the Marcus Performing Arts Center. Please note that there will be free parking in the Marcus Center structure, including for persons with disabilities, one block north of the Marcus Center between E. State St. and E. Highland Ave. Upon arriving, please fill out a card indicating that you would like to speak.
Public comments are limited to 2 minutes per person and are taken in the order in which they are received.

Second, residents who either have a disability, are at high risk of becoming sick from Covid-19, or would like to join the meeting virtually using Microsoft Teams are welcome to do so by registering online at Milwaukee.gov/CountyBoard.

A third option is to participate by phone. Anyone who wishes to speak at the hearing must register in advance so the County Clerk can call on them by name when it is their turn to provide public testimony.

I hope to see you there!

County Supervisor Sheldon Wasserman
