Dear Colleague,
We are contacting you because you have registered learners on the above qualification in recent years. Following our previous communications to you about the above qualification, where we confirmed it would no longer be included on the Performance Tables from 2024, we have now taken the decision to close the qualifications to new registrations with immediate effect.
This decision has been made following contact from ESFA who require us to re-title the qualification in order to retain it, however the numbers of learners are too low to a warrant re-submission to Ofqual.
The certification end date is set at 31 August 2024 which means that the final assessment opportunity for this qualification will be in May 2024, with no opportunity to re-sit after this point.
We continue to offer the BTEC First Award in Engineering for centres who wish to continue to offer a L1/2 qualification, though please note this is also not on performance tables. We are also planning to submit our new Tech Award in Engineering for inclusion on the Performance Tables as soon as DFE open the next submission window (expected this winter, for first teaching 2025).
