Words from the Founding Fathers |
"What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly: it is dearness only that gives every thing its value. Heaven knows how to put a proper price upon its goods; and it would be strange indeed if so celestial an article as freedom should not be highly rated."
Thomas Paine,
The Crisis,
December 23, 1775 |
This year's NRA Annual Meeting in Indianapolis, Indiana was a roaring success for Project Appleseed! Our booth was prominent and our teaching demonstrations were almost as popular as our brown bess... almost. Hard to beat the brown bess!
With 80,000 like-minded attendees present, we 7-th stepped every single one in sight. We were lucky to have a really strong crew that traveled from all across the US. Thank you to each and everyone of you!
Included are just a few of the many pictures. Click HERE for even more! |

In each issue of our newsletter, we highlight one of our events. In this issue, we want to showcase a recent 25m Rifle Marksmanship Clinic on Patriots' Day Weekend in Canton, Georgia on April 22-23, 2023.
Some words from the Shoot Boss (Roswell) –
"Congressman Loudermilk was on a tight schedule. However, Gator0246 offered up his M1 Garand to the Congressman to use and some time suddenly opened up on his calendar and he was able to join us for the Liberty Volley. The Congressman, as well as I'm not sure how many were in his entourage, all signed waivers, eyes and ears were found for all. The Congressman was the only new shooter and the rest observed, so we quickly ran him through the Safety briefing to the side and everyone else took a much needed 5 minute Break.
Next, we went through the Standing Position Demonstration as led by .416_Rigby and Axeman in preparation for the Liberty Volley and the AQT."

"The Tea Act, May 1773" By: AH1Tom
The Tea Act, passed by Parliament on May 10, 1773, would launch the final spark to the revolutionary movement in Boston. The act was not intended to raise revenue in the American colonies, and in fact imposed no new taxes. It was designed to prop up the East India Company which was floundering financially and burdened with eighteen million pounds of unsold tea. This tea was to be shipped directly to the colonies and sold at a bargain price. The Townshend Duties were still in place, however, and the radical leaders in America found reason to believe that this act was a maneuver to buy popular support for the taxes already in force. The direct sale of tea, via British agents, would also have undercut the business of local merchants.
Colonists in Philadelphia and New York turned the tea ships back to Britain. In Charleston the cargo was left to rot on the docks. In Boston the Royal Governor was stubborn and held the ships in port, where the colonists would not allow them to unload. Cargoes of tea filled the harbor, and the British ship's crews were stalled in Boston looking for work and often finding trouble.
The Tea Act granted the British East India Company Tea a monopoly on tea sales in the American colonies. This was what ultimately compelled a group of Sons of Liberty members on the night of December 16, 1773 to disguise themselves as Mohawk Indians, board three ships moored in Boston Harbor, and destroy over 92,000 pounds of tea. The Tea Act was the final straw in a series of unpopular policies and taxes imposed by Britain on her American colonies. The policy ignited a “powder keg” of opposition and resentment among American colonists and was the catalyst of the Boston Tea Party.
The passing of the Tea Act imposed no new taxes on the American colonies. The tax on tea had existed since the passing of the 1767 Townshend Revenue Act. Along with tea, the Townshend Revenue Act also taxed glass, lead, oil, paint, and paper. Due to boycotts and protests, the Townshend Revenue Act’s taxes were repealed on all commodities except tea in 1770. The tea tax was kept in order to maintain Parliament’s right to tax the colonies.
The Tea Act was not intended to anger American colonists, instead it was meant to be a bailout policy to get the British East India Company out of debt. The British East India Company was suffering from massive amounts of debts incurred primarily from annual contractual payments due to the British government totaling £400,000 per year. Additionally, the British East India Company was suffering financially as a result of unstable political and economic issues in India, and European markets were weak due to debts from the French and Indian War among other things. Besides the tax on tea which had been in place since 1767, what fundamentally angered the American colonists about the Tea Act was the British East India Company’s government sanctioned monopoly on tea.

"The Adapted Appleseed Mindset" - Thread Discussion |
"During a day on the firing line at an Appleseed clinic; as a shooter - you will be introduced to the mindset of a Rifleman/Riflewoman. One of the key aspects in that direction is...
"A desire to learn and improve with a teachable attitude.
That thought is also an important and critical aspect as an Adaptive person at any level of difficulty; both at a short term or a set of long term modifications to a personal way of life.
No one said it will be quick and easy.
There will be struggles, failures... and successes... through gritted teeth, sweat, and tears.
Here is a tip from a personal experience:
Recall any moment of a teary and bitter memory. Can you recall the internal intensity burning and boiling from within at a dark time? Take that intensity... and turn it to a focus... a desire... a passion that cannot be quenched. That momemt can be held and honed at any given moment.
The Adaptive shooter will have that internal, personal, and practiced advantage - the internal ability to focus and concentrate on a single task. How is that possible? The countless hours of that same level of concentration required for a physical therapy session. I can't recall how many hours of effort - just to lift a finger from a paralized hand.
Sessions that may take multiple days... weeks... months... years. An exercise of character as well.
Progress might not be measured in seconds... it may boil down to the possibility of a single thought - of firing the shot. The focus... the concentration... resembles the Rifleman's bubble.
For the Instructor with an Adaptive shooter... there will be joyous moments of tears possible - and will hopefully take those dividends to the bank every time.
We get paid... by the smiles!!!" - BBQ_Bandit
