Dear Colleague,

Earlier in the year we started introducing Multi Factor Authentication (MFA) as an additional security control to our Edexcel Online site. This is the next step in a sequence of additional security measures we’re introducing for all centres to protect you, your centre, and your learners’ data. As we move towards exam completion and prior to the summer break and results, it is now time for you to start using Multi Factor Authentication.

What is Multi Factor Authentication?

Multi-factor authentication is a multi-step account login process, common in most consumer-grade experiences. In the same way you experience this in your everyday life when paying for goods or using banking services, we will require you to enter more information than just your Edexcel Online password.

Why are we doing this?

Remember, you must keep the password for your EOL account and any linked email accounts (which may be your school or college email account) secure. Use strong passwords and change them regularly - never share your passwords with anyone. If you ever think your passwords have been compromised, reset them immediately and contact us to ask for further advice. Please take a look at our guide to resetting your password.
When do I have to start using Multi Factor Authentication?

From Monday 19 June – users of our Secure Download Service already use Multi-Factor Authentication.  This means that you will be asked to use the MFA process on your very next login to Edexcel Online.

Logging in to the Pearson Application Portal and use of Multi Factor Authentication.

You can continue to access Edexcel Online using the Pearson Application Portal login page. Please sign in using your existing EOL username and password. Your EOL username is the email address that was used to create your account. If you're not sure which email was used, or if it has changed, please ask your Exams Officer/Centre Administrator to confirm this for you.

If you have forgotten your username and /or password, please take a look at the Accessing Pearson Services Using Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) article and scroll towards the bottom of the article for guidance on resetting your username/password.
Once you have entered your username and password, you will be automatically sent a One Time Password (OTP) via email as part of the MFA process Accessing Pearson Services Using Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA).

When you have successfully entered the OTP, you will be directed to the Pearson Application Portal where you can access Edexcel Online.
