Achievement District Test Coordinator
Welcome Email - August 21, 2023
Dear Achievement District Test Coordinator,

Welcome back to the start of another school year! As the Achievement District Test Coordinator (DTC), you will be the point of contact with ADE's Achievement testing team throughout the year. Please watch for periodic emails with important testing information, reminders, and deadlines. Read these emails carefully, as well as our quarterly newsletter, The Assessments Bulletin, so you do not miss important testing information. DTC communications will also be published on the Achievement DTC page of our website throughout the school year for easy reference.

The Achievement DTC Quick Guide includes important links you will need access to as the DTC this year. In addition, Achievement testing infographics have been updated for the 2023-2024 school year and are published on the Assessments homepage. Our webpages will be updated as additional information becomes available for Spring 2024 Achievement testing.
AASA Update - Grade 3 Oral Reading Fluency Test Unit

A decision has been made to continue collecting data from the Grade 3 Oral Reading Fluency (ORF) test unit during the Spring 2024 test administration. ORF will not be included in a student's ELA score, nor will it impact the current Move on When Reading (MOWR) indicator in Spring 2024.

The ORF test unit will be administered online in TestNav in small groups of up to 6 students in both Computer-Based Testing (CBT) and Paper-Based Testing (PBT) schools. This is new for PBT schools this year. More detailed information will be provided in the Test Coordinator's Manual and Test Administration Directions, which will be published this winter.

Please refer to the AASA website for the following ORF test unit resources:
  • Recommended Seating Arrangements
  • Headphone and Microphone Requirements
  • Accessibility for Grade 3 ORF Items
  • ORF Frequently Asked Questions
Achievement Test Windows - 2023-2024 School Year
ACT Test Window Information

Schools may utilize both ACT test windows in order to assess all Cohort 2025 students. Schools are encouraged to administer ACT during the first test window and may also use the second test window, as needed, to complete any makeup testing. Any schools that choose to administer the ACT during only the second test window will not have an additional ACT test window to use for makeup testing. Test window selection will be made by Test Coordinators in ACT's PearsonAccess Next platform in November 2023.
We hope you have a successful school year! The ADE Achievement testing team is always available to answer any questions you may have.
