Achievement Assessments Accommodations Manual

The Achievement Assessments Accommodations Manual has been updated and published on the Assessment Accessibility webpage. All Achievement District Test Coordinators should review and be familiar with the contents of the Accommodations Manual and the timelines for submitting accommodation requests for approval to ADE or ACT.
Special Paper Version Test Requests
Open Now through February 23, 2024

Special Paper Version (SPV) test requests for AASA (Grades 3-8), AzSCI (Grades 5, 8, and 11/Cohort 2024), and ACT Aspire (Grade 9/Cohort 2026) should be submitted to ADE for review and approval using this secure online form: https://www.azed.gov/assessment/spv2024.

Arizona offers the following SPV test formats to meet the needs of students who cannot access the test content through computer-based testing: braille, large print, and regular print paper tests. Please see the SPV Test Request Process Quick Guide for additional information and for the steps necessary to request an SPV test for a student.

Any staff member responsible for the student's IEP or 504 Plan may submit a request for an SPV test. An automated email will be sent to the District Test Coordinator and the submitter to notify that the information was received and will be reviewed. ADE's Achievement Assessments team will then follow up by email after the review is complete or to request additional documentation, if needed.

SPV test requests for the Achievement Assessments (AASA, AzSCI, and ACT Aspire) will be accepted through February 23, 2024; however, we encourage you to submit requests early to allow time for submitting additional documentation, if required.

Additional Accommodations Requests
Open Now through February 23, 2024

If a student requires accommodations for AASA, AzSCI, or ACT Aspire testing that are not included in the Universal Test Administration Conditions or Universal Tools in the Achievement Accommodations Manual, an Additional Accommodations Request should be submitted to ADE using this secure online form: https://www.azed.gov/assessment/achievement_aa_fy24.

Some examples of Additional Accommodations that should be submitted to ADE for review include the American Sign Language (ASL) form of the test, an online test accommodation in a paper-based testing school, assistive technology not included in the Accommodations Manual, and/or hearing devices that require a Bluetooth connection.

A request is valid for the current school year. If instructional and assessment accommodations in the student's IEP or 504 Plan are updated during the current school year after the initial submission, you will need to submit the updated IEP or 504 Plan.

Please see the new Additional Accommodations Request Process document for additional information.
