Welcome Shooter, to the November edition of The Liberty Pole, Project Appleseed’s newsletter.  We have a great issue lined up for you this month. As always, "Shooters! Your Preparation Period Begins Now!"
Words from the Founding Fathers
"America, an immense territory, favour’d by nature with all advantages of climate, soil, great navigable rivers and lakes, &c., was destined to become a great country, populous and mighty; and would in a less time than was generally conceive’d be able to shake off any shackles that might be impos’d on her, and perhaps place them on the imposters."

November's Event Highlight
In each issue of our newsletter, we highlight one of our events. In this issue, we want to showcase a recent Known Distance Clinic in Searsboro, Iowa on October 14-15.

Some people think we are a .22 only 25 meter program. Those people are of course, WRONG! The Shooters at our SOLD OUT Known Distance event in Iowa have the right idea. We are at our heart, a Full Distance Shooting Program. Below are some words from the Shoot Boss of this amazing event, IXOYE.

"We had an outstanding weekend at the Searsboro, Iowa KD event despite the chilly weather with temperatures hovering near 50 degrees and the constant 20-30 mph headwinds. Our shooters came prepared and they didn't let the weather hinder their progress. [...]

Weekend Results were phenomenal:
    # of Shooters: 15 on Saturday, 11 on Sunday
    New Rifleman: 3
New KD Qualified: 8
    Re-Qualify KD: 1
Morgan Shingle: 5 out of 11
 New Orange Hat: 1

Specific details that I recall are..."

November's History Article:
"The Stamp Act"
The Stamp Act came into effect on November 1st, 1765. The British Parliament had passed this act to replenish their finances following the costly Seven Years' War with France. A portion of the revenue generated from the Stamp Act was designated to maintain several regiments of British soldiers in North America, aiming to keep the peace between Native Americans and the colonists. Moreover, due to the reluctance of colonial juries to convict smugglers of their crimes, those who violated the Stamp Act could be tried and convicted without jury trials in the vice-admiralty courts.

The Seven Years' War, which spanned from 1756 to 1763, concluded the longstanding rivalry between France and Britain for control of North America. While it was a victory for Britain, it left the British Empire burdened with a significant debt. Given that the war had benefited the American colonies as much as any other part of the British Empire, the British government decided that the colonists should bear some of the war's financial burden.

Rather than imposing duties on trade goods, the Stamp Act introduced a direct tax on the colonists. Specifically, the act required that legal documents and printed materials bear a tax stamp. This law applied to wills, deeds, newspapers, pamphlets, and even everyday items like playing cards and dice.

Coming at a time of economic hardship in the colonies, the Stamp Act triggered intense opposition....

November's Marksmanship Tip
"AR-22" LTR build
This month's article is from one of our Instructors, Willociraptor. He not only built a beautiful AR clone in .22LR that is perfect for Appleseed. But he also, took a lot of time to write an amazing step by step on how he did it.

After researching for a while, imagining what I'd like for myself and looking at what other people are using, I settled on some constraints. My rifle build would adhere to the following criteria:
  • A2 furniture (pistol grip, buttstock, handguards)
  • A4 iron sights (fixed front sight base with detachable carry handle rear sight)
  • Rifle-length configuration (sight radius and handguards)
  • 16" barrel, for the "dissipator" look (call me quirky, but I've always had a thing for the dissipator configuration)
  • Free-floated barrel (for enhanced precision)
  • A nice trigger (because I'm snobby about triggers)
  • Reliable, safe bolt and bolt carrier design (so as to be immune to any foreseeable Appleseed Oversight Committee prohibitions in the future)
It would be a free-floated dissipator in .22LR...
