Achievement District Test Coordinator Updates
November 30, 2021
Achievement District Test Coordinators,

Please see this week's updates and reminders regarding 2021-2022 Achievement testing below.

If you have any questions about the statewide achievement tests, please contact us at AASA@azed.gov or AzSCI@azed.gov.
Training Modules

The Achievement District Test Coordinator (DTC) training modules are now available in Pearson's Training Management System: https://azachieve.tms.pearson.com/. From this link, enter your email address, then complete the registration page. Select the button for "District Test Coordinator" to access the training modules.

The following training modules are required to be completed by DTCs but may also be completed by other staff in your district or charter. In addition, DTCs are required to provide the Achievement Test Administration Responsibilities training module to all testing staff. DTCs are responsible for tracking completion of the Achievement Test Administration Responsibilities training module by all testing staff.

  • AASA Test Administration - required for all Achievement DTCs with Grades 3-8
  • AzSCI Test Administration - required for all Achievement DTCs with Grades 5, 8, and/or 11 (Cohort 2023)
  • Accommodations - required for all Achievement DTCs with Grades 3-8 and/or 11
  • Achievement Test Administration Responsibilities - required for all Achievement DTCs with Grades 3-8 and/or 11 and for all employees who will administer, proctor, or be in contact with Achievement test materials
Please visit the FAQ page, located on the login page and under the "Help" button, for additional information.

Please note: ADE is in the final stages of creating a presentation about on-demand writing, as mentioned in a couple of the training modules. Once completed, this presentation will be posted on the AASA webpage with the other AASA Writing Resources.
Reminder - Submit Special Paper Version Test Requests and Additional Accommodations Requests - AASA, AzSCI, ACT Aspire

Special Paper Version (SPV)
SPV test requests (Braille, large print, or regular print SPV tests) should be submitted to ADE as soon as possible for review to ensure that SPV tests are available for students if needed and to allow time for submitting additional documentation if required. For the AASA Writing Stand-Alone Field Test, requests should be submitted by January 13. For the operational AASA test, AzSCI, and/or ACT Aspire, requests should be submitted by February 25.

Requests should be submitted through the following secure link: https://www.azed.gov/assessment/spv2022. Please also review our Special Paper Version Request Process for additional information.

Additional Accommodations Requests
If students require additional accommodations beyond those listed as Universal Test Administration Conditions or Universal Tools in the Achievement Assessments Accommodation Manual, these request should be submitted to ADE as soon as possible using the following secure form: https://www.azed.gov/assessment/achievement_aa_fy22
AASA Writing Stand-Alone Field Test (SAFT)

Reminder: All students in Grades 3-8 will participate in the AASA Writing SAFT.

Student enrollments have been uploaded and are now visible in the AASA PearsonAccessNext (PAN) platform. (Reminder: the PAN website for AASA SAFT is a different link than the PAN website used for ACT).

The following tasks need to be completed in PAN for the Writing SAFT. Please see the AASA Writing SAFT DTC Checklist for more information and the PAN User's Guide for detailed steps.

  • Verify and edit participation counts - Complete by December 3
  • Verify contact information and shipping address in PAN - Complete by December 13
  • Create user accounts in PAN - ongoing, complete before testing
  • Review students in PAN - New students can be added beginning November 30, 2021.
    • Paper-based testing schools must add any new students before December 10 to receive Pre-ID labels for paper tests

AASA - Things to Know

  • Verifying your district or charter's contact information and shipping address for the AASA Writing SAFT also verifies this information for the spring operational AASA assessment. There will be a separate contact and shipping address verification window later for AzSCI.
  • Users uploaded to PAN for the Writing SAFT will remain for the operational AASA. Users will need to be uploaded separately for AzSCI in February.
  • ADE will upload students again in January for the operational AASA test to ensure the most up-to-date information has been loaded in PAN prior to the operational AASA.

Please bookmark or print the AASA Writing SAFT DTC Important Tasks Checklist and the AASA DTC Important Tasks Checklist for more information on current and upcoming AASA tasks.
AzSCI - Things to Know

  • The Spring 2022 AzSCI administration will go live in PAN on February 2. This will be in the same PAN site currently being used for AASA.
  • DTCs already in PAN for AASA will automatically have the AzSCI administration added to their accounts. DTCs who do not have Grade 3-8 students will receive an automated email on February 2 with access to PAN.
  • Users who were uploaded to PAN for AASA and who will need access to AzSCI will need to be added under the AzSCI test administration in PAN.

Please bookmark or print the AzSCI District Test Coordinator Important Tasks Checklist for more information on upcoming AzSCI tasks.
