Ayden’s memory will live on in the hearts of his loved ones, as well as the many talented prosecutors and other members of my Office who dedicated years to securing justice in this case,” said D.A. Bragg.
We announced the sentencing of Victor Parra for directing a series of cell phone snatchings that targeted at least 25 individuals in Manhattan. “This investigation also led us to a larger alleged gun trafficking conspiracy that involves four defendants selling illegal firearms. We announced the trial conviction of Johnette Booker for physically assaulting and causing the death of her 15-year-old cousin. “Instead of providing him with love and care when she assumed the role of caregiver by taking him into her home for the summer, she preyed on him, and her actions and omissions caused his tragic death. No child should ever be treated this way, and I thank our prosecutors for their hard work to deliver accountability in this case,” said D.A. Bragg.

We need commonsense reforms to our state’s discovery laws that will help prosecutors protect victims while also safeguarding the rights of the accused. “I’m grateful to Reverend Sharpton for his support of the Governor’s discovery proposal, which will protect victims of crime while maintaining New York’s status as the state with the most open and transparent discovery laws in the nation,” said D.A. Bragg.
