A Series of Small Group Reflections
As Unitarian Universalists recently affirmed seven Shared Values that define our faith, this series explores each one, using a podcast episode from a diverse list of pods as the "text" to generate thought, discussion, and learning together. In October, we began with a covenanting session and discussed how we care for one another.

Next up in April, we will delve into the shared value of Pluralism: We celebrate that we are all sacred beings, diverse in culture, experience, and theology. We will base our exploratory discussion on an episode of the Struggle Care podcast called “Making the Outdoors Inclusive with Parker Bushman". The transcript is available on the same episode page.

Do you know about the problematic history of the conservation movement?  Some highlights of this episode - nature should be accessible to all and  there are ways to build outdoor-oriented community through “engagement, information, collaboration and empowerment.”

Come to learn, discuss, and explore!

We gather on Wednesday, April 09 from 7:00 to 8:00pm ET. We will open the Zoom room at 6:10pm and stream the episode during an optional pre-gathering listening session. Come prepared to listen and share ideas in our learning community!

Sign up now to receive the Zoom link for this gathering and further information about our gatherings taking place on the second Wednesdays of the month through May 2025. More information is available on our website.

The Gathering is a new monthly virtual event from Side With Love, designed to offer:
  • Spiritual Grounding – Strengthen your heart and spirit for the work ahead.
  • Political Analysis – Understand the threats to democracy and justice.
  • Collective Action – Organize with others to block anti-democratic forces and build a just and loving world.
We are fortifying ourselves for the long road ahead.

Every second Monday at 8:00pm ET; this month on Monday, April 08 from 8:00 to 9:15pm ET. Registration is free and required.

If you are staff or a Board member you have also received an invitation for a leader-specific follow up, Now What?: The Gathering, on Wednesdays from 1:00 to 2:15pm ET. Please check your inbox. Email the New England Region or submit this request form to your primary contact with any questions.

Every year First UU Society of Syracuse, hosts a keynote presentation given by a transgender/gender nonconforming person, offers workshops from and for the trans community only, as well as additional workshops for cisgender people who are ready to learn more about how to be an ally. UUA staff are offering tech support and registration assistance for this event.

This event is happening on Saturday, April 26. You can register to attend this event online.

We encourage you to share the link to register to participate online with your congregation. However, please do not share the link to register in public such as on your website or Facebook page. In these times we would like to make it more difficult for trolls to learn about and access the space to keep it safer.

Over the past couple of months, UUA congregations and related organizations have seen an increase of outside threats and destructive incidents. In planning for ways to be supportive and affirming of your congregation’s ministry, it would be helpful to us to keep track of these incidents.

As a reminder, we have designed a Congregational Incident Report to help us keep track of these incidents. This simple form provides a way for congregations to inform the UUA of a threat or disruptive incident that comes from outside the congregation itself, helping us track trends and create resources. More resources are available on the Safe Congregations webpage.

All forms come to the Safe Congregation Program email. Please let us know if you have any questions.
