Annual Spring Sweep underway |
April 4, 2025
The City is cleaning streets to remove sand and debris from roads, multi-use trails and boulevards. Street sweeping helps maintain safe travel conditions, prevents winter debris from entering storm drains and keeps materials from disrupting air quality.
Spring Sweep campaign dates and schedule
City crews have already started sweeping major roadways, Business Improvement Areas, active pathways and bike lanes. This work will be completed before shifting to residential neighbourhood roadways on April 14.
Street sweeping runs Monday to Friday, 24 hours a day. All roadways are expected to be completed by June 1, weather permitting. Night crews will clean boulevards and arterial roads between 7 p.m. - 7 a.m. Residential roadways will be cleaned from 7 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Parking ban
Parking ban signage will be placed in each neighbourhood at least 48 hours prior to sweeping. Residents can view the Street Sweeping Map or sign up online for Parking Ban Notifications at edmonton.ca/StreetSweeping. Parking can resume once roadways are completed.
Residents and business owners are asked to remove driveway ramps from curbs when cleaning crews are in the area. While workers will try to avoid ramps and other items left in roadways, these items may be damaged or result in missed cleaning areas, impacting the overall completion of the neighbourhood.
Safety measures
Residents should keep a safe distance from sweeping equipment and allow cleaning crews room to work. The City has measures in place to minimize dust, but street sweepers can still create dusty conditions that reduce visibility. If you see dust, slow down and drive for conditions. Please give crews and equipment plenty of space — in front, behind and on both sides. |
