City of Edmonton and CUPE Local 30 finalize new collective agreement
April 10, 2025

The City of Edmonton and the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 30 have officially reached a new collective agreement.

Late yesterday, City Council voted to accept the tentative agreement that was ratified by CUPE Local 30 members on March 24 and 25, finalizing the bargaining process.

“This agreement is the culmination of many hours of collaborative negotiations and provides stability and certainty for the City and its more than 3,500 CUPE Local 30 employees,” said City Manager Eddie Robar. “The outcome of our successful discussions recognizes the needs of employees who provide important services to Edmontonians while supporting the City’s overall financial sustainability.”

“There are a lot of positives to take from this agreement, which only happened because both negotiating teams worked hard to understand issues and come up with solutions that met the needs of both workers and the employer,” said CUPE Local 30 President Eric Lewis. “CUPE 30 members can now move forward and continue delivering the high-quality core services that Edmontonians rely on every day.”

The terms of the four-year agreement – from December 31, 2023, to December 11, 2027 – include the following wage increases:
  • 2024: 3.25 per cent increase
  • 2025: 2.75 per cent increase
  • 2026: $1.00 per hour increase (overall average of approximately 3.00 per cent)
    • CUPE Local 30 staff will receive an increase between 1.75 and 5.16 per cent, with lower-salary classifications receiving a greater percentage increase.
  • 2027: 3.00 per cent increase

Additional highlights of the agreement include enhanced benefits, such as increased psychological services and increased safety boot and tool subsidy, and important additions that affirm the City’s commitment to a safe and inclusive workplace. View the memorandum of agreement for full details.

The City is actively working to implement the agreement.
