Table Tennis is a brilliant game, and if you are under 16, you’re invited to come down and see how much fun it is. It is important that mums and dads come along as well.

  • All equipment provided
  • We have up to eight tables set-up in the GSK sports hall
  • Our coaches are all SAFEGUARDING qualified
  • Come and see if this is a game that you’d like to play

Ulverston Table Tennis Club is based at The GSK Sports & Social Club and meets every Wednesday. Adults session starts at 7.30pm. New adult players are welcome to come along, whether you’re a beginner of a regular player. Just turn-up, grab a bat, join-in, and we’d be very pleased to see you.

Printfest 2025 not only showcases remarkable artistry, but also highlights the vital role of creativity in promoting well-being. This year's theme, "Art for Health", underscores the healing potential of printmaking, offering artists and audiences a space to connect, reflect and seek out inspiration. We look forward to welcoming visitors to Ulverston this May to celebrate the intersection of art and health within our vibrant printmaking community.

20 schools will be participating this year. Their work will be hung on the stairwells, in the Supper Room, and down the corridor in the Main Hall, and will remain on show until 17th May.

Celebrating the arts and culture of Ulverston over the Printfest weekend. Ulverston offers you artists, printmakers, performers, hats & threads, framing & art supplies, toys, gifts & homewear, plus inspiring printmaking courses. Discover cafés and relaxing spots where you can unwind and enjoy tea, coffee, and a bite to eat.

Trail maps can be found in participating venues, at the Coro over the Printfest weekend, and downloaded from the Printfest website.

Come along with your friends to this very popular Northern Soul Night on Saturday 3rd May, at Barrow Cricket Club, Abbey Road. Classic Soul tracks played by 8 top DJs. Starts at 7:30pm. £5 per ticket. Book your ticket by phone in advance, or pay on the door. Fantastic atmosphere and great entertainment.

Art in the Park
Immerse yourself in creativity at Art in the Park, where local artists will showcase their talents in a beautiful outdoor setting. This year you’ll find them on the recreation field. Discover stunning works of art and meet the artists behind the creations. Whether you’re an art enthusiast or simply looking for inspiration, there’s something for everyone.

Ford Park Car Show
For the car enthusiasts, the Ford Park Car Show will feature more than 100 vintage, classic, and modern vehicles. Chat with passionate car owners, admire beautifully restored cars, and enjoy the nostalgia of motoring history.

No event is complete without fabulous food, something for the children, and of course a face painter!
VE Day on Hoad Hill

8th May at Market Place and Hoad Hill

Thursday 8th May marks 80 years since Victory in Europe [VE] Day, when the Second World War came to an end in Europe.

To commemorate this important event, the Royal British Legion will be holding an act of remembrance at the War Memorial, Market Cross. Gather at 10.45am on the 8th May for a short service which starts at 10.50am.

At 9.30pm, Ulverston Town Council will light a beacon on the top of Hoad Hill, next to the Sir John Barrow Monument. The Town Crier will read the VE Day 80 Proclamation, and the Last Post will be sounded by a member of Ulverston Town Band.

All are welcome to attend. Please take care when walking up and down the hill, particularly when in the dark. Torches and suitable footwear are recommended.

6:30pm 8th May at GSK Sports Club

Hoad Hill Harriers will be celebrating the mile at our Paul Jarvis Memorial Mile Road Race on the evening of the 8th May. We have 3 events starting at 6:30pm with our senior mile which will be a competitive road race with great prizes for first 3 and vet categories. Followed by a 1 mile fun run for the kids or those wanting a more leisurely mile – medals for finishers. We finish the evening with a highly competitive and fun 4×1 mile mixed relay. There are just a few relay spaces left, so enter now to guarantee your team entry.

All routes start & finish at GSK sports and social club and follow routes either around Sand side road / west end land / South end of North Lonsdale Road or around GSK roundabout down to Canal foot and back. Runners in senior race and relay must be 12 or over on day of race.

Hope to see you there or if you see the runners enroute please give them a cheer.

The Ulverston-Albert Town Twinning Association was established in 1974 with support from Ulverston Town Council. The group meets monthly, and promotes cordiality between Ulverston and Albert, a town in northern France. UVHS often runs school trips to Albert, where pupils can visit the war graves of Ulverston soldiers. The Ulverston Mayor and dignatories from both towns meet for war commemorations and other civic events, such as the Ulverston Lantern Festival.

This year Retro Rendezvous will be kicking off with the Two Hats Blues Band on Friday night in The Sun Inn basement, known as The PIT.

The main festival takes place on Saturday and Sunday, based around Market Street, New Market Street, and The Sun Inn. There will be retro stalls, cycle jumble, food traders, and live music on both days. We welcome back our loyal vintage car and motorcycle exhibitors on Saturday. On Sunday there will be a scooter gathering, and the famous Velo Retro cycling events. Visit the Retro Rendezvous website for details.

A number of pubs and other Ulverston businesses are getting in on the act. Please support Avanti Capitola where there will be a retro disco, The Roxy Cinema which is showing the legendary Quadrophenia, and Gather who will be providing a Northern Soul stage.
