Combatting Transit Crime We announced the indictment of Tyrone Massey for an alleged unprovoked stabbing in Penn Station. “Violence has no place in our bustling transit system, and we will continue to collaborate with our law enforcement partners to hold violent offenders accountable,” said D.A. Bragg.
Peter Perna was indicted for allegedly pushing a 55-year-old man into a full height revolving door turnstile at a subway station in Chelsea, causing the metal bar to injure his head. “We will utilize all the tools at our disposal to keep straphangers and transit workers safe, and I wish the victim a speedy recovery,” said D.A. Bragg.
Prosecuting Sexual Violence We announced the 116-count indictment of Ryan Hemphill, an attorney, for the alleged predatory sexual assault of six women in his apartment. “We allege that Ryan Hemphill raped and violently assaulted six different women in his apartment in just five months. Further, we allege that he threatened the women and used his position as an attorney to intimidate them and prevent them from reporting these crimes,” said D.A. Bragg.
We also announced the trial conviction of William Hathaway for raping a young woman in his West Village apartment following their first date at Soho House. “This conviction makes clear that initial consent is not a blank check for rape. This survivor clearly said stop again and again, but the defendant did not. I thank her for taking the stand and delivering frank and honest testimony while enduring repeated claims that she was a liar full of regret,” said D.A. Bragg.
Anthony Albertorio was indicted for allegedly walking into a laundromat and sexually abusing an employee. “This alleged abuse is extremely disturbing and no employee should have to endure this at their place of work,” said D.A. Bragg.
Jonathan Ruiz pleaded guilty for violently trafficking multiple women in their mid-twenties, forcing them to engage in commercial sexual acts in at least six states. “Even while incarcerated, he continued to harm a trafficking survivor by hiding her from law enforcement and continuing to use her to make a profit. We want survivors to know that this is a safe place to seek help. Please call us at 212-335-3400,” said D.A. Bragg.
Cracking Down on Wage Theft Mark Measures and his talent agency were indicted for allegedly stealing approximately $1.8 million from 160 actors and employees in KMR’s New York City office. “Rather than pay the actors and employees, the defendants used their hard-earned money to fund his lavish lifestyle. This alleged conduct is egregious, and we will continue to fight for Manhattanites to receive every dollar they earn,” said D.A. Bragg.
Recognizing Sexual Violence Awareness Month On the last day of Sexual Violence Awareness Month, our Office wore denim to support survivors and raise awareness of sexual violence for Denim Day!

Seeking Accountability for Violent Crime Ryan Cato was sentenced to 25 years-to-life in state prison for beating his girlfriend’s 10-year-old son, Ayden Wolfe, to death. “Isolated from teachers and other responsible adults because of the pandemic, 10-year-old Ayden Wolfe was enduring horrific violence at the hands of his mother’s boyfriend. Ryan Cato brutally abused him, eventually killing Ayden in his own apartment,” said D.A. Bragg
We announced the sentencing of Nisean Graves to 18 years in state prison for fatally stabbing 36-year-old Antonio Eggleston in broad daylight on a Midtown Street. “Our Office takes unprovoked acts of violence very seriously as we work hand in hand with our law enforcement partners to ensure accountability in these cases,” said D.A. Bragg.
Hasson Victoria was sentenced for a series of unprovoked attacks in the West Village. “This defendant is now facing accountability for this random assault on three strangers. In addition to the harm caused to victims, these instances of random violence impact the psyche of our entire borough. The public should know that we are continuing to focus on accountability when this type of conduct occurs,” said D.A. Bragg.

We announced the indictment of Amir Thompson for allegedly stabbing a stranger at the 9/11 Memorial and Museum and threatening a police officer with a knife. “We bring charges when alleged stranger assaults occur. This defendant is also facing charges for threatening a police officer with a knife, and I want to be clear that we have no tolerance for anyone who threatens members of the NYPD or puts them in harm’s way,” said D.A. Bragg.
Connecting With Our Community D.A. Bragg joined Micah Lasher’s Town Hall on the Upper West Side as we discussed our Office’s work driving down gun violence, funding mental health initiatives, and more.
Elder Abuse Unit Chief Jeanine Launey provided tips and resources to more than 70 older adults at the Hudson Guild Older Adult Center and the Mott Street Older Adult Center focusing on how to spot scams and protect oneself from fraud.

Repatriating Stolen Antiquities We announced the return of a 16th century manuscript that was stolen from Paraguay’s National Archives. “I thank our team of prosecutors, investigators and analysts for unraveling this theft and returning this manuscript back to Paraguay’s National Archives,” said D.A. Bragg.
