Temporary Water Service Shut Off to Your Home
Monday, May 12, 2025
10 a.m. to 12 noon

Dear Valued Customer,

On Monday, May 12, 2025, the water service to your home will be temporarily shut off from 10 a.m. to 12 noon.

This shutdown is needed so Tualatin Valley Water District (TVWD) – your water provider – can:
  • Remove a fire hydrant at the south corner of SW 188th Avenue and SW Wedgefield Lane
  • Install a new fire hydrant across the street, just north of 4175 SW 188th Avenue
During this work, your home will not have water for drinking, cooking, showers, washing dishes, flushing toilets, or any other use.

We know this may be inconvenient and appreciate your patience as we complete this important work safely and efficiently.

Find additional information below.

Tips to Prepare
  • Before: Fill containers with clean water for drinking, cooking, and sanitation.
  • During: Keep all faucets turned off.
  • After: Turn on a faucet to check if water is back. If not, wait 15 minutes and try again. Once it returns, run cold water for two minutes to flush your pipes.
Why This is Happening
As part of a pedestrian improvement project, Washington County Land Use & Transportation (LUT) is building a new walkway along 188th Avenue between SW Kinnaman Road and SW Blanton Street. A protected pedestrian crossing will also be added at 188th and Kinnaman.

The existing fire hydrant must be removed to make space for the walkway. A new hydrant is being installed across the street to meet safety standards. TVWD requires hydrants to be no more than 400 feet apart, which helps firefighters respond quickly in emergencies.
