Seeking Accountability for Sexual Violence, Winston Williams pleaded guilty for stalking and trafficking a woman using coercive tactics. “Traffickers target vulnerable New Yorkers all too often, as this defendant did by specifically seeking out someone with substance use disorders. We announced the indictment of Felix Rojas for allegedly sexually assaulting a physically helpless man on a Manhattan-bound R train. “This conduct is egregious, and we will prosecute this case to the fullest extent,” said D.A. Bragg.
Edwin Page was indicted for allegedly for allegedly stalking and sexually abusing multiple women he did not know. “I thank the NYPD for quickly apprehending this defendant and urge anyone who has been the victim of a sexual abuse should call our Special Victims Division at 212-335-9373,” said D.A. Bragg.
We announced the guilty plea of Albert Brown for forcing a 24-year-old woman to perform a sexual act while threatening her at gunpoint. “I hope this sentence imposed today provides this brave survivor with a sense of justice and that she continues to recover from the significant trauma she has suffered,” said D.A. Bragg.
Cracking Down on Hate Crimes, We announced the hate crime indictment of a man for allegedly assaulting and harassing a gay couple in the Flatiron neighborhood. “This type of bias-motivated attack should never happen to anyone, and our Office is continuing to seek accountability in hate crime matters while also conducting community engagement and trainings to stop these attacks before they occur,” said D.A. Bragg.
Luis Ramirez was indicted for allegedly making terroristic threats directed toward Central Synagogue and the Jewish community in Manhattan. “Nobody should have to fear for their safety when they are in a house of worship, and the language allegedly used by this defendant is extremely disturbing,” said D.A. Bragg.

Prosecuting Violent Crime, We announced the indictment of a man, who was extradited from Mauritius, for allegedly choking his employer to death with zip ties in 2017. “I hope the victim’s loved ones can take some measure of comfort that this defendant will finally face accountability in New York,” said D.A. Bragg.
Shane Hoskins was sentenced to 8 years in prison for his role in a deadly robbery and drugging conspiracy. “Shane Hoskins is now the second defendant to be sentenced to prison for participating in this conspiracy that led to the tragic deaths of John Umberger and Julio Ramirez,” said D.A. Bragg.
Celebrating the Passage of Commonsense Discovery Laws, We were honored to stand beside Governor Kathy Hochul and our fellow D.A.s to applaud commonsense reforms to our discovery statute that will “advance public safety while maintaining our state’s status as having the most open and transparent discovery law in the country,” said D.A. Bragg.
Combatting Gun Violence, Darious Smith was indicted for allegedly engaging in a deadly shooting incident that led to the tragic death of beloved Harlemite Excenia Mette. “We have absolutely no tolerance for this conduct. The outpouring of grief following her loss shows just how much she meant to the Harlem community,” said D.A. Bragg.
Donta King was convicted by a jury for fatally shooting 27-year-old Ronald Thomas in 2022. “I commend our prosecutors for presenting a strong and compelling case that will ensure accountability for this tragic act of gun violence,” said D.A. Bragg.

Protect Yourself From Cyber Scams, Virginia Nguyen, Deputy Chief of our Cyber Crime Bureau sat down with Patch to discuss how New Yorkers can protect themselves from cyber scams.
