Neonatal opioid withdrawal is triggered by the discontinuation of placental transmission of maternal opioids causing neuro-excitability and gastrointestinal dysfunction. Earlier assessment tools focused on symptoms while Eat, Sleep, Console addresses functional dimensions.

The recorded VON Grand Rounds discussion of the Eat, Sleep, Console care model is now available.
