Welcome to this week's Exams Officer update.

As we near the end of the summer 2025 exams, we wanted to sign post some of the support available to make sure you can close down the series as efficiently as possible.

We offer monthly Exams Officer live online events to keep you up to date with the latest news. Join us for our next two events, both taking place on Thursday 10 July.

JCQ contingency day: GCSE and/or AS/A level examinations should sustained national or local disruption arise during the June 2025 series
5 July
Deadline to submit Special Considerations requests: International GCSE, GCSE, IAL, AS/A level, AEA, PLSC, iPrimary and iLowerSecondary, Mathematics in Context, Level 2 Extended Mathematics Certificate
International GCSE examinations are returned using the white return label provided with AR1 attendance registers. These labels are not funded and not covered by the Dfe yellow label service and Parcelforce will refuse collection.

Please make sure you arrange and pay for your own courier/tracked service back to Pearson. Read more about the white label service.

Where the Parcelforce labels site is being used, please ensure that you have 'pop -up blockers' disabled.

7B file submission: Deadline to submit EDI summer results file request Please submit these as soon as possible, if you havent already
5 July
BTEC claiming deadline: make full award certification claims (including BTEC Tech Award cash-ins) and input all internal grades, for learners expecting a result following the release of May/June 2025 external examination results, or for those with active UCAS applications. All outstanding actions should also be completed by 5 July
To make sure your learners receive their results on time this August, you’ll need to have submitted all internally assessed grades and completed your full award claims by 5 July. If you run BTEC Tech Awards, you'll also need to submit your summer series cash-ins by this deadline.

Can’t make a session? Don’t worry; we have plenty of support ready for you, including detailed support articles, FAQs and step-by-step guides.

If you want to receive overall results for BTEC Firsts, Nationals and L2 Technicals via EDI this summer, then you need to send us your BTEC EDI results request file.

The deadline to send us this request file was 31 May, so if you need to, please send us your request file as soon as possible to give us time to identify and solve any potential problems before results day. 
Planning to deliver Digital Functional Skills (DFS), or is this your first year delivering it? You must make sure you have the correct programme approved before registering or teaching learners.

Please be aware that Digital Functional Skills (2023) is not the same as Essential Digital Skills Qualification (2020) and separate approval is required for each qualification. To check which qualification you are approved for please see the following article

On 28 April, Ofqual published a message from the Chief Regulator to school and college leaders. Please take some time to read this reminder of important information for the exam series. 
It includes:
  • maintaining security and integrity of exams and assessments
  • the importance of reviewing contingency plans
  • the term-time checkpoint
Please also be aware of specific arrangements for:
  • Tech Awards and the terminal rule
  • grading of Technical Qualifications for T Levels in their first year of awarding
  • new post-16 qualifications available to teach from September 2025 (Alternative Academic Qualifications and Reformed Technical Qualifications including Technical Occupation Qualifications)
