Stay safe and beat the heat at water stations this summer
June 18, 2025

Edmontonians can access clean, safe drinking water at 28 water stations across the city until September 30.
The water station program has grown each year since it launched with five stations in 2021. This year, new locations were added at Coronation Park in Woodcroft and near Alex Taylor School downtown. The summer water stations complement 24 permanent water fountains located throughout Edmonton’s transit centres and LRT stations.

Water station locations are selected with input from community organizations, Alberta Health Services, Homeward Trust, Business Improvement Areas, the Edmonton Public Library and Edmonton Police Services. The program aligns with the City's policies to work with social agencies on ensuring the safety of vulnerable people during extreme weather.

"Having access to water is important during our hot summer months,” said Hani Quan, Director, Affordable Housing and Homelessness. “Extreme heat disproportionately affects vulnerable groups in our communities, including children, the elderly, people with disabilities and those experiencing homelessness. Providing accessible water stations is essential to preventing dehydration and keeping people safe during the hottest days.”
