The City of Edmonton will conduct at-grade crossing track rehabilitation at the University Avenue and 114 Street intersection from June 27 until the morning of July 1. This work is required to address aging infrastructure and improve the longevity of the City’s LRT system.
Crews will begin working at the intersection at 6:30 p.m. and will close the intersection from 8 p.m. on Friday, June 27 until 6 a.m. on Tuesday, July 1.
During the work, University Avenue will be closed to vehicle traffic heading west and east. Vehicles travelling west on University Avenue will be able to turn north and south onto 114 Street. Vehicles heading south on Groat Road are encouraged to use 87 Avenue. Pedestrian restrictions will also be in place. Pedestrians should use alternate routes across 114 Street at 78 Avenue or 83 Avenue.
Crews will work overnight to expedite work and mitigate long-term construction impacts to the public. Nearby residents may experience overnight noise, but every effort will be made to reduce impacts to the public.
Paths adjacent to the intersection will remain open during construction, and flaggers will be present to assist pedestrians and cyclists through the area.
