From June 29 to August 30, the east side of Century Park Transit Centre will close to pedestrians and vehicle traffic due to critical construction and repairs. This work requires construction crews to remove the concrete on the east side of the transit centre.
To accommodate construction, buses that regularly park on the east side of the transit centre will park at relocated bus stops along 111 Street. Edmonton Transit Service (ETS) is arranging temporary bus stops at the Century Park Transit Centre to minimize rider inconvenience.
ETS Kiss and Ride along 111 Street will close for the duration of the construction to allow room for buses with relocated stops to pick up and drop off riders. During this time, no personal vehicles will be permitted to stop in this area. Residents are encouraged to use alternative transit hubs like Heritage Valley, Southgate and Davies transit centres to pick up and drop off riders.
Bus stops for the following routes will be relocated to the Kiss and Ride (Bay P #4216) section along 111 Street: 56 West Edmonton Mall, 709 Southgate, 716 Leger, 717 Leger, 721 Rutherford, 722 Allard and 729 Leger.
To accommodate space for all ETS buses during construction, some buses will use the grassy curb north of Century Park Transit Centre as a temporary stop. The temporary stop will be marked as #4217 - Century Park Transit Centre Bay Q. Asphalt platforms will be installed during construction to make this stop universally accessible for riders. The following routes will be moved to this location: 1 Leduc, 518 Mill Woods, 707 Southgate, 715 Leger and On Demand Transit.
To simplify routing and minimize impacts to bus scheduling, the bus stops for the following routes will move to different bays at the transit centre:
- Route 700X will move to Bay I.
- Route 709 will move to Bay P.
- Route 717 will move to Bay P.
- Route 718 will move to Bay M.
The following routes will be on detour as a result of this work:
Route 9-Owl - Express via southbound 111 Street, eastbound 29a Avenue, southbound 109 Street, westbound 23 Avenue, northbound 111 Street to Century Park TC.
- Bus stop #4444 - 111 Street and Saddleback Road (SB) will be detoured.
Routes 712, 721, 722 and 729 - Express via northbound 111 Street, east 29a Ave and south 109 Street.
Routes 56 WEM, 707, 715, 716 and 717 - Express via northbound 111 Street, westbound Saddleback Road back to route.
- Bus stop #4224 - 111 Street and 23 Avenue will be detoured.
Route 712 - detour southbound 109 Street and eastbound 21 Avenue back to route.
- Bus stops #4256 - 110 Street and 21 Avenue (SB) and #4423 - 110 Street and 21 Avenue (EB) will be detoured.
- Riders can board/exit at #4549 - 108A Street and 21 Avenue or after looping the Bearspaw/Keheewin neighbourhoods exit at either #4072 - 109 Street and 21 Avenue (WB) or #4479 - 110 Street and 21 Avenue (NB).
Travel delays, especially during peak hours, are likely to occur on several routes for the duration of construction. Routes 721, 722 and 729 are anticipated to experience the most delays.
