2025 property taxes due June 30 |
June 24, 2025
The annual property tax deadline is around the corner. With property taxes due on June 30, here’s what Edmonton property owners need to know:
- Check for your notice. Property tax notices were sent out in May. If you haven’t received your notice yet, please contact 311 as soon as possible. Note that 311 is open from 7 a.m. - 7 p.m., Monday - Saturday. It is closed on Sundays and statutory holidays, except for essential public safety and urgent bylaw calls.
- Late fees apply if you miss the deadline. A five per cent penalty will apply on any outstanding 2025 amount on July 1, with further penalties later in the year. Property taxes cannot be appealed.
- There are many ways to pay. You can pay in person at most financial institutions, or by telephone or online banking. Please avoid paying by mail at this time to ensure your payment will be processed by June 30.
- Give yourself enough time to pay. There are often high payment volumes as the due date approaches, and June 30 falls on a Monday this year, right before the Canada Day holiday. Please check your bank’s hours if necessary, in case of adjustments due to the holiday.
- You can apply for the Monthly Payment Plan anytime, but your balance must be cleared. The deadline has passed to start monthly tax payments in July, so you will need to pay your full property tax amount by June 30 to avoid a late penalty. If you apply to start in August, any late penalties will be added to your monthly payments.
- Get your tax details online. Property owners can review their balance and confirm if payments have been received at myproperty.edmonton.ca. After signing up for an account, property owners can add their property using the unique access code found on their latest tax or assessment notice. We encourage property owners to sign up for MyProperty to access all of their assessment and tax information online, including the ability to sign up for electronic notices.
Property taxes help fund the municipal services Edmontonians rely on every day, from fire rescue to roadway maintenance and public transit. For more information about paying taxes, go to edmonton.ca/taxes or call 311. |
