Apply Now: Election worker information session
July 29, 2025

Edmontonians interested in working the fall election are invited to attend a virtual information session.

Returning Officer Aileen Giesbrecht will walk through employment opportunities for Election Day (October 20) and Advance Voting (October 7 - 11). She will also answer questions submitted to elections@edmonton.ca.

Date: Thursday, July 31
Time: Noon - 12:30 p.m.
Location: Online

The 2025 Edmonton Election will require more than 4,000 election workers to fill more than 5,000 positions. These roles include operating 222 voting stations on Election Day, half-day counting shifts, five-day Advance Voting opportunities, and standby positions on Election Day to fill in as needed.

Working an election can be a meaningful way to participate and give back to your community. Election workers often return to work in subsequent elections, describing the experience as exciting, inspiring and fun. Many sign up with friends, neighbours or family members.

Election work is open to anyone who is at least 16 years old and eligible to work in Canada. An election can be an opportunity to gain experience, earn extra money and build lifelong connections to democratic processes. For new Canadians or youth who are not yet eligible to vote, it is a chance to experience the election up close.

More information on working and a recording of the livestream will be available at edmonton.ca/elections after the session.

Edmonton Elections is the nonpartisan entity responsible for independently and impartially administering Edmonton’s municipal and school board trustee elections.
