Participants explored the core features and obligations of the GATS, including market access, national treatment, and the structure of Schedules of Specific Commitments. An interactive session focused on analyzing Jamaica’s current commitments at the WTO, helping participants better understand their scope and implications.

A virtual workshop dedicated to the WTO Agreement on Agriculture was held for Comorian officials from 24 to 25 July. The training focused on the core disciplines of the Agreement and the specific notification requirements that apply to WTO Members.

The programme was delivered over three technical sessions, featuring presentations from WTO experts on key themes: domestic support, export competition, and market access. Each session examined how these areas are regulated under the Agreement and what obligations they entail for Members in terms of transparency and compliance.

WTO TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE

Coordinated and managed by ITTC

A core function of the WTO, technical assistance and capacity-building activities seek to enhance professional and institutional trade capacities in developing and least-developed WTO member and observer governments. They provide beneficiaries with enhanced know-how to take full advantage of the opportunities from the rules-based multilateral trading system and address potential challenges. Within the WTO Secretariat, the Institute for Training and Technical Cooperation (ITTC) oversees these activities.
