This month, I wanted to give a shout-out to one of our recent 25m Rifle Clinics. This one was in Port Townsend, Washington, on July 19-20. Below are some words from the Shoot Boss, CaptainRebop:
"It was another fine weekend out on the Olympic Peninsula - made even better by getting to spend it with such a fine group of Americans. 16 folks from all over Washington and Oregon joined us at the Jefferson County Sportmen's Association to learn about our shared history and heritage, and got to practice the longstanding American tradition of marksmanship!
We started the weekend by engaging our first Hits Count target. [...]"

August's History:
The Battle of Long Island |
 |
This month, we wanted to tell the story of The Battle of Long Island. Below is a sample of this month's exciting article from our resident historian, AH1Tom.
"The Battle of Long Island was the first major battle to take place after the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. It was a victory for the British that gave them control of the strategically important city of New York. It was the largest battle of the entire war in terms of troop deployment and fighting. After defeating the British in the Siege of Boston on March 17, 1776, General George Washington brought the Continental Army to defend the port city of New York. Washington understood that the city's harbor would provide an excellent base for the British Navy during the campaign, so he established defenses there and waited for the British to attack.[...]"

One Minute to Help Preserve Our Nation |
It takes just one minute to write a simple postcard, email, or letter to our representatives to make a difference in preserving our nation. Although you will likely never convince a representative who is dead set on a position, they simply need to know that folks back home are for or against an issue and are watching them. Studies have shown that with just 10-12 letters, representatives on the state level can be swayed. With as few as 50 letters, some federal representatives can be swayed. Not bad for a minute's worth of work once or twice a week. This link www.usa.gov can provide contact information for your State and Federal Representatives.

Want to Support Project Appleseed? |
If you'd like to support Project Appleseed, there are plenty of ways to do so. You can buy tickets, buy store items, or make a 100% tax-deductible donation. We accept and are appreciative of all donations. Of course, the thing valued above all is TIME. Volunteers; those that can give up their time and help us out, in whatever capacity it may be, are what this program runs on. |
Partnership with "Right to Bear" |
Concealed carry/self-defense insurance options have grown in recent years. Appleseed has partnered with one of these groups - Right to Bear (RTB).
"When you become a Right To Bear Member, your dollars are helping to fund our God-given right to freedom. A portion of every dollar we [RTB] earn is given back to the causes that support organizations that fight for First Amendment Religious Freedom, Freedom of Speech, Second Amendment Right to Bear Arms, Sanctity of Life, and the needs of our Veterans and First Responders."
You can visit Right to Bear HERE |
