City of Edmonton launches new grant to support community-led violence prevention
August 11, 2025

The City of Edmonton is pleased to announce the launch of the Blueprint for Violence Prevention Grant, a new funding program to support youth-focused and place-based violence prevention initiatives.

This grant is part of the City’s Blueprint for Violence Prevention and follows Council direction from September 2023 and March 2025. It reflects the City’s ongoing commitment to preventing violence by investing in community-led solutions, equity and collaboration.

A total of $1 million will be awarded through one-time grants ranging from $100,000 to $500,000. All projects must be completed within two years of approval.

Successful projects must:
  • Demonstrate violence prevention in the near term through strategies that interrupt it.
  • Address root causes by reducing risk factors and promoting protective factors.
  • Priority may be given to collaboratives that partner with grassroots groups. Partnership Agreements and Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) are strongly encouraged.
  • Demonstrate the need to enhance or scale up an existing evidence-based program/project which supports youth and communities.
Priority will be given to initiatives that:
  • Focus on youth aged 24 and under.
  • Are place-based and responsive to neighbourhood needs.
  • Centre lived experience and community voice.
  • Demonstrate strong partnerships and collaborative approaches.
