Beloved readers, my thoughts on the political assassination of Charlie Kirk might be jolting. I cannot recall wanting to be wrong about anything as much I want to be wrong about what follows.
But first...
Pray for John and All the Johns
A wonderful Mary Foundation benefactor, Diane from Hawaii, recently shared with us that her husband John is suffering from cancer. It's a devastating blow. John is not alone, so join me and tens of thousands around the world at the end of this message, when we pray for grace and healing for him and all our loved ones suffering from illness.
Erika Kirk
By all accounts, Charlie Kirk's wife Erika is a wonderful Catholic lady. In the unlikely case this message finds its way to her, please accept my sincerest condolences. You and your family are in my prayers.
Immediate Requiem Mass
I never met Charlie Kirk. I was attending the SENT Summit for Catholic tech entrepreneurs at the University of Notre Dame when the shooting occurred. Hundreds of us prayed at that instant. Within the hour of the confirmation of his death, our chaplain, Father Ambrose Criste, offered the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass for the repose of his soul. Rest in peace, brother.
What Struck Me Hardest
Over the past few days, I was moved deeply when close friends of Charlie, fine men like Matt Walsh and Michael Knowles, testified to his graciousness, good-nature, faith, sober personal habits, and his ample organizational skills.
What struck me most—and I mean like the earth shaking beneath me— was something I did not know about him. Walsh and Knowles confirmed their certainty that Charlie Kirk was destined to become the president of the United States.
They were quickly echoed by others in the public square who knew him well. A good friend told me yesterday about working on a political campaign several years ago in Illinois, Kirk's home state. His candidate prophesied that Charlie (a relative unknown) would someday be elected president.
Coopting the Democracy Facade
The historical and spiritual ramifications which follow from the possibility of Charlie Kirk's presidential destiny are deeply disturbing. By his late-twenties, he was already inspiring millions, training hundreds of thousands, and swinging presidential elections in the most powerful nation on earth.
This does not mean that Kirk did not make political compromises or was not subject to intense pressure from the powers that be. My comments today are apolitical. As always, I want to offer you a perspective you will not read elsewhere.
Nevertheless, public figures such as Kirk are exceedingly rare—a good man who was already shaping the destiny of a nation, and would have continued to do so for decades to come.
In our diabolical age, his political enemies, who need the facade of democracy to continue their hidden reign of degradation, surely shared the same conclusions as Kirk's closest associates—that someday he could be in the oval office.
Toiling since his teenage years, he appeared to be succeeding in the seemingly impossible work of coopting the machinery needed to curate the illusion of democracy.
The George Washington Precedent
Which leads us to a sobering conclusion: whatever his flaws, if Kirk was indeed God's chosen instrument to lead our nation, it was also crystal clear to Satan.
Since Kirk's murder, I cast my mind through the past three centuries to find a similar political figure. I found none except George Washington.
I have written before about how Washington, as a young officer during the French and Indian War, was supernaturally preserved from death to assure that the United States would come into being in accord with God's plan.
Like all men, Washington was also flawed, but he was also uniquely gifted, and virtuous.
Regardless of your opinion of President Trump, I believe, along with tens of millions of Americans, that he was miraculously preserved from assassination in Butler, Pennsylvania (although it did not appear to be a suspension of natural laws, as it was for Washington).
Has America's "Timeline" Been Altered?
My premise is that it was God's plan for Charlie Kirk to be president, regardless of the positive repercussions of his martyrdom which are already manifesting around the world. My conclusion is that God, who could have preserved Charlie Kirk supernaturally, just as He preserved Washington, in His permissive will, allowed Satan to end Kirk's life.
For our purposes, it is immaterial whether the evil one accomplished this murder solely via his influence over one disturbed radical, or, through the machinations of a highly-placed deep state foreign or domestic entity using that man as a pawn (strange indications are already mounting).
God does not reveal His plans to me. I look for patterns in salvation history. If it was His plan for Charlie Kirk to become president, that was ended by the evil one last Wednesday, hopefully in an act of desperation.
If this is true, America is now on a different divine timeline, and probably a much more compressed one. Why?
God, Unspeakable Injustice, and What Follows
God is loving and just. It is consoling to remind ourselves of one of Saint Thomas Aquinas' explanations for why God permits evil: in order to bring about a greater good.
I am crestfallen that God did not intervene to prevent Charlie Kirk's death. Our Lord has done so for others in American history. I have personally heard and read testimonies of soldiers and fellow Christians who have been miraculously preserved as Washington was.
God did so for me—a supernatural rescue from certain death—so I could continue Our Lady's work. I have personally experienced divine intervention. Maybe that's why the assassination hit me so hard. As my longtime readers know, her work through me is always keenly channeled into inviting others to implore God for a Red-Sea-Level divine intervention to save every soul in our beloved nation and beyond.
God did not plan this unspeakable injustice for Charlie Kirk or his family. God did not plan this loss for all Americans.
Despite all the seemingly massive positive "second-order" effects around the world, I am fighting discouragement because one may also ponder that God is weary of the sins that cry out to heaven for divine wrath. I fear this change in salvation history is a sign that He may be withdrawing His divine protection from America.
How do all of these recent developments "in the course of human events" relate to the shedding of innocent blood in the womb and the abuse of children and adults in the western world by so many other means? Was this an act of desperation by the evil one to grasp at his control over the blood sacrifice because his power is waning?
I do not know. However it is true that God desires to bring good out of this evil, and I hope that good will bring us closer the conclusion of our diabolical age.
My Spiritual Instinct
My guess—my spiritual instinct—is that we are running out of time. After all, before he was murdered, Charlie Kirk was poised to spend decades leading America toward a great spiritual awakening. God already gave Americans decades to end the evil among us—and that evil took Charlie Kirk's life. This means that five, ten, or twenty year "human plans" may no longer be viable.
Even at the conference I just attended, many of the wonderful Catholics there were acting under the reasonable presumption that we have many years or even decades to win over the culture. I get it. But what if we only have a few years or one year before the window closes?
One could even imagine that the positive political and spiritual repercussions around the world, inspired by the martyrdom of Charlie Kirk, will drive the evil one to unleash an ever-spiraling frenzy of conflict, bloodletting, and breakdown.
It's a jolting thought: the unanticipated good repercussions of Kirk's assassination may be the very thing that spurs the bad guys, human and demonic, to more rapid and grotesque responses on a worldwide scale.
As Father Ripperger taught me, because Lucifer refuses to use moral means to achieve his ends, a characteristic (or "tell") of his works is chaos—just as a sure sign of a divine plan is peace, which Saint Thomas Aquinas defines as "the tranquility of order."
Waiting for the Wind to Fill Our Sails
Our Treasure in Heaven project to help God transform America into the most Catholic nation on earth within a few years is languishing right now.
Because of the financial sacrifices so many of you have offered, we have made incredible strides. My coworkers and I have done all that we can humanly do, methodically and fast, investing every available dollar.
We are simply not able to move forward right now. This frustrating pause is occurring at the same time I'm figuring out (during these dark days since that terrible sniper shot rang out) that we are moving too slowly, and it's driving me a little nuts.
You know I always find hope. Most of you are reading this two days after the Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows, which followed the Triumph of the Cross last Sunday.
Christ's brutal murder is a metaphor for where we are as a nation. Our nathour is coming sooner than most expected. If nations die, can they rise from the dead?
Exposed Soft White Underbelly
I am not a Charlie Kirk. The daunting tasks our Our Lady has placed before me personally are way beyond my experience, slipshod discipline, intellect, and talent. And despite not having lost one ounce of zeal, there's a lot of tread worn off my tires.
I was a dead man for several minutes on that icy winter day when I slipped upside down into that cistern. The powerful hand of God grabbed my whole body and lifted me out my freezing tomb.
I am breathing today to fulfill a divine plan.
And if you are reading this formerly dead man's words, so are you.
Through decades of suffering, Our Lady has shown me exactly where the enemy is, revealed his soft white underbelly, and taught me how to bring together others and concentrate divine force to destroy him. I am not confused, merely unqualified.
We need so much help!
An Army Made Up of Armies
My many shortcomings aside, I do know many individuals and organizations to bring into the battle. There are hundreds. But right now, even as I mourn for the Kirks, their friends, and our nation's loss—even while "processing" the new timeline—we do not have the resources to deploy the full-time, talented apostles Our Lady is placing right in front of me to build an army made up of armies, comprised of millions.
I know where these hundreds of allies are and what the Holy Spirit needs them to hear.
We need sacrifice. We need a few of you to sell some very valuable things and repurpose them for the economy of grace. Please have a frank conversation with Jesus about this—He knows what I cannot know.
Momento Mori (Remember You Shall Die)
"Death is no phantom, no horrible specter, as presented in pictures. In the catechism it is stated that death is the separation of soul and body, that is all! Well, I am not afraid of a separation which will unite me to the good God forever."
- Saint Therese of Lisieux
"How consoling it is to see a just man die! His death is good, because it ends his miseries. It is better still, because he begins a new life. It is excellent, because it places him in sweet security. From this bed of mourning, where he leaves a precious cargo of virtues, he goes to take possession of the true land of the living, where Jesus acknowledges him as His brother and as His friend."
- Saint Bernard of Clairvaux
"The more one longs for a thing, the more painful deprivation of it becomes. And because the desire for God, the Supreme Good, is intense in the souls of the just, the soul suffers enormously from the delay."
- Saint Thomas Aquinas
Tens of Thousands of Us Praying Together
Calling to mind John and Diane, and with the intention of miraculous healing and the grace to bear all burdens associated with illness, including our relatives, friends, and coworkers suffering from all maladies of body and soul, let us begin in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit...
Lord Jesus Christ, we beg thee for the grace to remain guarded beneath the protective Mantle of Mary, surrounded by the holy briar from which was taken the Holy Crown of Thorns, and saturated with thy Precious Blood in the power of the Holy Spirit, with our guardian angels, for the greater glory of the Father.
Jesus, Divine Physician, heal us.
Our Lady of Sorrows, kneel next to us.
Saint Joseph, terror of demons, protect us.
All holy martyrs of North America, inspire us.
Saint Michael the Archangel, deliver us.
Saint Raphael the Archangel, heal us.
Guardian Angel of the United States, govern us.
Amen.
