The City of Edmonton and Edmonton Fire Fighters’ Union (EFFU) have officially reached a new collective agreement.
Today, Edmonton City Council voted to accept the tentative agreement that was ratified by EFFU members on August 27, 2025, finalizing the bargaining process. The City of Edmonton now has collective agreements with all seven unions/associations representing City workers until December 2027.
“On behalf of the City of Edmonton, I thank EFFU employees for their hard work in keeping Edmontonians safe. The collaborative efforts of our bargaining teams is reflected in this agreement, which brings stability and certainty for the City and Edmonton firefighters,” said City Manager Eddie Robar.
“The Edmonton Fire Fighters' Union is pleased to have reached a settlement in a collaborative manner that provides an agreement for the members for years to come,” said Greg Rehman, EFFU President.
The four-year agreement, commencing on December 31, 2023, and ending on December 13, 2027, provides the following wage increases:
- 2024: 3.75 per cent increase
- 2025: four per cent increase
- 2026: four per cent increase
- 2027: 3.40 per cent increase
Additional highlights of the agreement include increased shift differential pay, increased health care spending account, increased tool allowances and increased medical coverage.
The City is actively working to implement the agreement.
