The Returning Officer called a recount for Ward sipiwiyiniwak due to a potential administrative or technical error. Simultaneously, Edmonton Elections conducted ballot accounting for all races, including for Ward sipiwiyiniwak. Both the recount and ballot accounting processes confirmed a human error in the recording of counted votes.
Ballot accounting is the process of confirming the accuracy of preliminary election results by reconciling the various ballot counting documents used by the counting teams after voting closes.
All results from the 2025 Edmonton Election are subject to the ballot accounting process before the official statement of results are released at noon on Friday, October 24.
