104 Avenue reopens to two lanes in each direction following Valley Line West LRT roadwork
December 9, 2025

104 Avenue has reopened to two lanes in each direction between 105 Street and 121 Street, marking the successful completion of the 2025 Valley Line West accelerated roadwork plan that began in mid-April.

On Monday morning, crews began work to reopen the busy roadway.

This completes the three-phase accelerated roadwork plan, which involved extensive roadwork along 104 Avenue and at six major intersections along the LRT route this season. All intersection work was finished on or ahead of schedule.

The City and Marigold Infrastructure Partners (MIP) recognize that this work was disruptive to commuters, residents and businesses, and appreciate everyone’s patience while the accelerated roadwork was completed.

With construction on the Valley Line West progressing, many roads along the alignment are now in their final permanent traffic configuration. This means that in areas where roadwork is complete, the allowable turning movements for vehicles are now permanent. Learn more on the
City’s website.

Planning for the 2026 construction season is currently underway. Once plans and impacts are finalized, details will be shared with the public.

Valley Line West construction is anticipated to be complete in 2028, followed by an extensive testing and commissioning phase to ensure safety and reliability before the line opens.
