City of Edmonton recognized as IAP2 Canada’s 2025 Organization of the Year
December 16, 2025

The City of Edmonton is proud to announce it has been named IAP2 Canada’s 2025 Organization of the Year, recognizing the City’s ongoing commitment to meaningful, equitable and transparent public engagement.

The award honours municipalities and organizations that demonstrate a sustained, organization-wide commitment to the IAP2’s Core Values, embedding public engagement into strategic planning, operational culture and decision-making processes. Edmonton previously received this award in 2018, and the 2025 submission — “Edmonton: A Culture of Public Engagement That Keeps Evolving” — showcased how the City’s approach has matured since then.
Public engagement is core to how Edmonton effectively builds, plans and delivers more than 300 municipal programs and services that residents rely on every day. The award highlights years of work across every City department to strengthen trust, use inclusive engagement practices and ensure Edmontonians have a meaningful voice in decisions that shape the city.

“This award belongs to all Edmontonians, who have shared their diverse voices,” said Jennifer Badry, Interim Chief Communications Officer. “Making that possible has been the City’s dedicated engagement professionals, past and present, who lead with purpose and passion. Thank you, IAP2 Canada, for recognizing Edmonton's collective dedication to enabling a better life for all Edmontonians.”

The award also acknowledges Edmonton’s work to evolve its Public Engagement Policy, which culminated in its review and approval by City Council on April 8, 2025.
