The North East and North Cumbria Learning Disability Network has launched the Learning Disability Menopause Passport—an easy‑read, co‑developed resource helping women with a learning disability understand menopause, recognise symptoms, stay well, explore treatment options and feel confident discussing their needs. |

Collaborative clinics in the community |
Boost and the North Cumbria Knowledge and Library Service hosted a Lunch & Learn where Emily Maughan and Gavin Watt shared how ‘Monty’ the Community Health Bus delivers mobile clinics. The session explored partnerships, lessons learned, and innovative approaches to tackling health inequalities. |

The North East and Yorkshire Leadership Academy has launched a new Future‑Fit Leadership cohort - bite‑sized masterclasses designed to spark fresh thinking and equip leaders with practical skills. Topics include career agility, adaptive leadership, psychological maturity, AI in leadership, skills‑based teams and intrapreneurship. |

Planting for a greener NHS |
Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust has planted over 400 trees to boost biodiversity, support wellbeing and progress toward net zero. The evidence‑led project improves habitats, enhances environments, and strengthens climate resilience - showcasing a scalable model for greener, healthier estates. |

AI helps cut preventable blood clots |
Newcastle Hospitals has introduced AI that rapidly detects preventable blood clots, reducing harm and improving patient safety. Since launching in 2024, avoidable clots have fallen by 56%. The system saves nurses around two hours a day and has already won the 2025 Nursing Times Workforce Award for Best Use of Workplace Technology. |

Community‑led approach improves refugee wellbeing |
A new community‑led initiative, Help for Health, is improving access for refugees and asylum seekers in Newcastle and North Tyneside. Through health education, social prescribing, peer navigators and wellbeing activities, the project reduces isolation, builds confidence and supports people to understand and navigate the system. |

Pharmacy Teams engagement events |
Primary Care Network (PCN) and practice pharmacy teams are invited to upcoming networking events to share best practice, discuss challenges and explore innovation. Sessions include updates on the 2026 Prescribing Outcomes Scheme, AnalyseRx, and early detection in CKD. Events take place on 4 and 5 February. |

The NHS Excellence Awards 2026 are now open until 6 March. These national awards celebrate impactful, innovative work across health and care. Free to enter, they welcome submissions from NHS organisations, local authorities and VCSE partners across ten categories. Regional champions announced in April; winners revealed at ConfedExpo. |
