Upcoming full road closure at 129 Avenue by Belvedere LRT Station |

The City of Edmonton and CN Rail are enhancing pedestrian and vehicle safety and accessibility at the CN and LRT crossing by Belvedere LRT Station (129 Avenue between 58 Street and Fort Road). Crews will replace existing road crossing gates, install new pedestrian gates and widen the sidewalk. This work will occur in two phases, each with different closures.
Phase 1: February 16 to 20 (single lane closures)
From February 16 to 20, traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction along 129 Avenue between 58 Street and Fort Road at the CN and LRT crossing. The sidewalks will remain open.
Phase 2: February 28 to March 7 (full road and sidewalk closure)
From February 28 to March 7, the road and sidewalks will be fully closed in both directions along 129 Avenue at the CN and LRT crossing. Pedestrians can use the Belvedere LRT Station as an alternate crossing; security guards will be on-site overnight to escort pedestrians through the station.
During Phase 2, ETS Route 108 will be detoured. When heading eastbound, Route 108 will detour east on Fort Road, right (west) on 137 Avenue, right (south) on 50 Street and then back to its original routing along Hermitage Road. When heading westbound, Route 108 will continue south towards Yellowhead Trail from Hermitage Road, right (west) on 125 Avenue, right (north) on 66 Street, right (east) on Fort Road and then into Belvedere Transit Centre. LRT impacts are minimal during both phases. Every effort will be made to reduce public impacts; however, nearby residents may experience overnight noise.
The 129 Avenue rail crossing is expected to reopen on March 8. The City appreciates everyone’s patience and understanding while this project is completed. |
