This is an official communication from the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment’s Family & Medical Leave Insurance Division. |
|
|
If you’re receiving this, it means you’re taking time away from work because something important needs your attention. That might be welcoming a new child, caring for someone you love, or focusing on your own health. Whatever brought you here, this is exactly why Colorado’s FAMLI exists. |
|
|
We can’t prevent illness or solve every challenge families face. But we can provide a bit of stability, and the breathing room to focus on who and what matters most. We’re glad to help you be there — and to make sure you have steady support, while you’re away. |
Thank you for being a part of our FAMLI. |

Whether you just started your leave or are planning your return, here are a few steady reminders. |
On intermittent, reduced schedule, or Neonatal Care leave? |
Remember to log your leave hours weekly in your My FAMLI+ account. Payments begin once 8 hours of eligible leave have been reported, and continue weekly once hours are submitted. |
Your first payment will be made one week after your leave begins, and continue weekly on the same day each week. |
Don’t keep it a secret — file a new claim in My FAMLI+, and submit an updated Serious Health Condition Form (SHCF) certified by your healthcare provider within 60 days. Your new claim can be approved only once the new SHCF is received. |
Need something translated? |
Unsure if you need to take action? |
Check your “Tasks” in My FAMLI+. If there’s nothing listed, you’re set! |
|
|
While you’re focused on care, here are a few additional supports available to Colorado families this season. |
Free tax filing & Colorado tax credits |
Many families qualify for thousands of dollars through the Earned Income Tax Credit, the new Family Affordability Credit, and the Property Tax/Rent/Heat Rebate. Get Ahead Colorado can help you file for free.
|
Emergency rental assistance |
If you’ve fallen behind on rent, the Division of Housing has funding available, with priority for those facing eviction. Learn more → |
Local support + resources |
Through Colorado PEAK and 2-1-1 Colorado, you can find support for housing, food, health services, child care, cash, employment, legal services, and other community resources — including crisis and cold-weather assistance. |
If you received FAMLI benefits in 2025, you may receive a 1099-G form for tax purposes. This form reports the total benefits paid to you during the calendar year. |
You can access your 1099-G through your FAMLI portal. If you have questions about how it affects your tax filing, consider speaking with a tax professional or using a free filing service such as Get Ahead Colorado. |

Guest Blog — When Business Can’t Pause |
“There’s no reason your family’s well-being has to be part of the gamble.” |

When Steven launched his digital marketing business, he understood the risks that come with entrepreneurship. But when his daughter was born, he didn’t expect how complicated it would feel to step away for what mattered. |
As a single-employee S-Corp owner, Steven wasn’t sure paid leave applied to him – until he learned he could opt in. His story is about planning ahead, navigating a learning curve, and being able to take bonding leave without putting his livelihood at risk. |
Have a FAMLI story of your own? We’d love to hear it. |

"I was sitting there, just admiring and laughing with him about his big old earphones while he tried to play his video game...and I just knew, this is who I want to spend all my time with." |
Last week, Monica told us about meeting her husband later in life, the ordinary moment that changed everything, and why time is something she never takes lightly. |
|
|
Last month, nearly ten thousand people paused work to care for their health, their families, or themselves — because in Colorado, care is part of life. |

Leave looks different for everyone. Some people are settling into new routines, while others are preparing to head back to work. Whenever that moment comes for you, you can update your claim in the portal — and reach out to us if you need support along the way. |
