** REMINDER NOTIFICATION **
Potholing on SW 65th Avenue

Monday, Mar. 2 & Tuesday, Mar. 3, 2026
8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Dear Valued Customer,

This is a reminder that on Monday, Mar. 2 and Tuesday, Mar. 3, each day from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., potholing crews will be working in your neighborhood to complete early preparation and planning work for a future Tualatin Valley Water District (TVWD) water main connection project.

Location
This work will take place in the public right-of-way along the unimproved section of SW 65th Avenue, between SW Walnut Terrace and SW Wilbard Street.  Please see the map below showing the work area.

Planned Work
Crews will be performing potholing to gather accurate information about underground utilities and site conditions. Potholing consists of minor digging in the ground to find nearby utilities for design work. These holes will be filled with temporary asphalt or dirt to match the surrounding area the same day.

Purpose of Work
This information will be used to design a future project that will install approximately 510 feet of new 4-inch water main within the public right-of-way along SW 65th Avenue. Completing this work now will help shorten construction time in the future and reduce impacts to the neighborhood and overall cost of the project.

What to Expect During Work
  • Expect noise, dust, and vibrations during potholing activities
  • Large vacuum trucks near the work area
  • No action is needed from you
  • Your water service will not be interrupted
  • Crews will not enter private property
  • There will be no permanent digging or changes to your property
  • Access to nearby homes and driveways will be maintained
During this work, vehicles and equipment may be temporarily staged on the following streets:
  • SW Radcliffe Street
  • SW Walnut Terrace
  • SW Huber Street
  • SW Wilbard Street
  • SW Evelyn Street
  • SW 65th Avenue
What’s Next?
Using the information collected, engineers will design and permit the 65th Avenue Water Main Connection Project, which is expected to begin in summer 2026.

Construction of this project will include a directional drilling method, which allows crews to install the water main underground without digging a continuous underground trench.

Work will likely begin from a launch pit near SW 65th Avenue and SW Radcliffe Street. Drilling equipment will then create an underground path to a receiving pit near SW 65th Avenue and SW Wilbard Street. Once complete, the new water main will be pulled through the bore and connected to the existing system.

TVWD will share advance notice and clear information well before project construction begins this summer, including:
  • Planned construction dates
  • Any expected water service impacts
  • Tips to help you prepare
Why This Work Matters
This upcoming project will improve water reliability, support emergency preparedness, modernize aging infrastructure, and help maintain stable water pressure for fire protection.
